Disappointing

I borrowed this book from one of my friends who is a fan of Chetan Bhagat. Inspite of his great feedback on this book, I found it disappointing. The story is about a North Indian guy Krish in love with South Indian girl Ananya, and how they convince their parents for their marriage, and lot of spice and drama spinkled here and there.

The Prologue is sure to make its desperate attempt to make the first impression. But nothing apart from this in the book is interesting. There are too many cliches, too many repetitions like Ananya wearing the same color [peacock blue] Saree to every occasion and author mentioning it all over the book. I wonder what is his point here...to fill in the pages or to show how observant Krish has been with respect to his girls dressing.

I wonder how Ananya’s family is not ready to accept a north indian guy who’s from IIMA but are ready to accept their daughter having cocktail. Oh well, is it not a fiction? And readers are supposed to read anything that is written cause it is a fiction? The way Ananya’s family is potrayed is not convincing.

I have read many reviews on this book saying this book questions that conservative mindset of people who think there is a huge gap between North Indians and South Indians. But there is nothing to clear this perception, its just a love story with two families involved.

This would be the last book that I would read from Chetan Baghat.
