As a singer Kishore Da was an undoubted genius. Thought to be fit only for Yoodle Yoo songs, he later matured into a great all round singer. One of the best things about him was his ability to suit his voice to that of actor. So when you watched the actor sing on screen, it was as if he was really singing. So here are some of my favorite Kishore Da numbers in no specific order again.
Dil Kya Kare( Julie)- One of my all time favorite numbers. I used to whistle this song a lot in my childhood. Of course impossible for me to even casually sing it, as the modulation is very high here. Great music by Rajesh Roshan especially the whistle like sound in the background.
Chalte Chalte( Chalte)- Superb song from Kishore-Bappi Lahiri combo. Great lyrics by Indivar. Really romantic and touches you from the bottom of your heart.
Phoolon Ke Rang Se( Prem Pujari)- Take the lyrics of this song and send it to a female, she would immediately fall for you. But whatever this is one of the best songs Kishore has sung for Dev Anand with brilliant score by S.D.Burman.
Koi Hota Jisko Apna( Mere Apne)- What happens when you get a genius called Gulzar to write the lyrics and another genius called Salil Choudhury to score the music? A pure 24 carat gem which this song is.One of the best serious songs Kishore has song.
Zindagi Ka Safar( Safar)- Great lyrics by Indivar. Especially the piece?Zindagi Ko Bahut Pyaar Humne Diya, Maut Se Bhi Mohabbat Nibhayange? just touches me. This is one of my all time favorite songs.Other great song by Kishore da in the same movie is?Jeevan Se Bhari?
Pyaar Diwana Hota Hai(Kati Patang)- Great song by Kishore-RD combo. Especially the piano interlude at the beginning of the song, and the piano notes throughout the song.Other great songs in this movie are?Yeh Shaam Mastani? and?Yeh Jo Mohabbat?.
Khilte Hain Gul Yahan(Sharmilee)- Again another great song from SD for Kishore. Sweet and melodious, this song really soothes your soul.Superb lyrics make this a must hear song.
Musafir Hoon Yaaron(Parichay)- A memorable song from Kishore-RD-Gulzar team. It has got a real zingy beat and lovely rythm.
Kehna Hai( Padosan)- This movie had 2 great songs?Mere Saamnewali Khidki? and?Ek Chatur Naar?, but this song is equally good but quite underrated. Pretty sweet and romantic.
Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas( Blackmail)- Superb song from this movie. Sweet, melodious and romantic. Its been one of my all time favorite Kishore da songs.
Maana Janaab Ne Pukara Nahin(Paying Guest)- One of my fav old songs from Kishore. Pretty fast paced and rythmic, it would have you still tapping your feet. Great number by SD again.
Main Shayar Badnaam( Namak Haram)- Again a very good serious number sung by Kishore. He beautifully articulates the helplessness and frustration of the hero in this song. Great score by RD.
Chingari Koi Bhadke(Amar Prem)- One of my all time fav numbers. Superb score by RD again. The lyrics by Anand Bakshi are outstanding. Other great songs in this movie are?Kuch to Log Kahenge? and?Yeh Kya Hua?.
Tandi Hawa(Jhumroo)- This song is just too good. While the movie is noted for the title song where Kishore displays his yodelling talent, this slow but melodious number just grows upon you.
Humein Tumse Pyaar Kitna(Kudrat)- What a song. So romantic, so melodious and so haunting. This has to be one of the best songs from Kishore_RD combo.
Ek Ajnabi Haseena Se(Ajnabi)- Great romantic number from this movie. Pretty romantic and soothing. Again another clear winner from Kishore-RD combo. This movie had 2 great Kishore Lata duets also?Hum Dono Do Premi? and?Bheegi Bheegi Raaton?.
Meri Bheegi Bheegi Si( Anamika)?Superb song by Kishore-RD again. Slow but melodious, this song again is of the type which grows on you slowly.
Manzilen Apni Jagah( Sharaabi)? At a time when Kishore was facing increasing criticism for all those Taka Dina songs, he answered his critics with this song. Great song and great https://lyrics.
Fact is I could go on and on, but this list of songs which I have listed dont even showcase 1% of Kishore da?s immense talent. To pick up just 20 songs from a treasure trove of immortal songs is like putting a kid in a toy store and asking him to choose his favorite toy. Kishore da is a pure bred genius, and these songs which I have listed here are those which just came to my mind. In reality there are so many fav Kishore numbers of mine, that the list could run into hundreds.
