It has been just half an hr returning from the cinema-hall, watching 2012. and atleast I can say that The end of the earth can not be much differen than what have shown in the film.
much much expectations were made about this movie and I think it has been almost fulfilled in all the way, be it plot, cast performance, visual and sound effect, cinematography, and of course the direction.
PLOT:
The very first scene of the movie shows India, a negleted Indian scientist invites his scientist friend from U.S. to show the frightning condition of the earth and the story goes around the same plot throughout the film.
Roland and Halrald Kloser have included many storie in this 156 minutes film. Epicenter of the film is the end of the earth and steps for survival. Apart from this, there are a couple of love stories, story of a father and their children, story of "so called" high profile people and their attitude of ignorence and so on.
there is no need to discuss about the plot as it is useless writting about fairytells and love stories when we are watching some of the greatest disasters in 156 minutes.
coming directly to "points to be noted" in the film.
1) The direction: if u are still to watch the movie, try to analyse the scene which is benig shown in the movie, take any scene and then think how the scene might have been directed and u ll get the geniousness of Roland Emmrich. Though much of the credits goes to the post productions and visual effects but still, it is not that easy to create a real horrifying effect of disaster( we have seen many failure disaster films previously).
2) Cast Performance: Real hero of the movie is nature and it had performed upto the mark. all the cast have justified their respective roles with great efforts be it the main characters like John Cusack(Jackson), Amand Peet(Kate Curtis), Chiwetel Ejiofor(Adrian) and the child artists or small touchy charecter rolls like jazz duo in cruse, Hippy and "so called" mad radio jockey of yellowstone, Mr. president, Lama of tibet etc.
2) The Plot and the Logic behind it: The film has worth logic in it. we know that any single disaster can change the earth but in this movie the sequence of disasters have been shown which is really logical. Changing of magnetic fileds of earth, bursting of yellowstone national park volcano, massive earthquackes and tsunamis.all this disasters are due on earth since mny years. Predictions of Mayan civilizations are just a small part of this big game.
3) Visual and Sound effect: This part is heart of the movie. There are many scenes in which we can literaly bite our nails such as, the end of the cruse, the end of california, end of monestry, tsunami in India, first sequence of earthquacke and so on.
4) Some touchy elements: These elemets are out of the blue but still makes great impact such as. A lama Blowning the last bell in the monestry, Indian scientist family at the time of tsunami, The hippy radio jocky’s warm invitation to the volcano, U.S.S Jhon Kennedy’s meeting with white house, a scene of Rome prayers, A son is calling father by his name due to hate because of sepration of their parents, Greed of life of oliver Platt(carl Anheuser in the film), teaching of Lama to his follower, ignorence of developing countries as the ships of survival were only made by G-8 countries, Generousity of US president( an ideal leader), crueal but bitter truth of survival of the fittest in terms of money and power. and so on.
as a whole I can say that apart from the brilliant audio-visual elements and special effects, this film also has a touch of artistic direction and cinematography.
It will be a great experience realising the power of nature.go and watch it with yr family and friends in a good cinema hall.
