I am so exasperated by continued coverage of the Rahul Mahajan issue by NDTV, CNN-IBN and other equally useless TV news channels. The one-up manship and sensational journalism is driving me crazy. Yes, I can always switch to different channels (and that’s what I did) but that’s besides the point.
NDTV traces the three 20-something youngsters and gives us a sneak preview of "what happened" even before the youngsters go to Police. CNN-IBN in turn traces the drug peddler and ’entices’ the viewers to watch a ’Rahul Mahajan’ special. Even before Police start investigation there are discussion on drug abuse by the rich and the famous. Agreed, it’s unfortunate that Vivek Maitra died and Rahul is in ICU. A 5 minute update per day (if at all) is more than enough.
How do I care what happens in the page 3 party circuit? Who cares if Rahul actually took Heroin or Cocaine? Who cares about the background of Trishay, Karan and Sahil?
Come on, NDTV, CNN-IBN, TIMES, ZEE, HT today. Shame on you. Do some soul searching.
Your job is to give us news that’s relevant and useful. I feel cheated. Give us some real ’stuff’!
