After the success of of Erin Brokovich, Columbia Tristar comes out with yet another personal fav. blockbuster movie, with Hollywood Lissome and adorable, Sandra Bullock.
From her whacky-girl-next-door routine in ‘While u were sleeping’ to the cute bus driver in ‘Speed’, Sandra plays, a favourite party-gal and a heavy booze-guzzling journalist. Never ever to have heard the cliché, ‘Nothing in excess is bad’, Sandra alongwith her equally wild boyfriend, go on pub-hopping binges. But sadly her life on the ‘wild side’ comes to a screeching halt when she’s indulged in one binge, 2 many.
For starters, she arrives at her sisters weddings a trifle 2 late, bumps into the wedding cake after shes’ sloshed and then drives off with someone’s limo into another’s house. All doesn’t seem so bad, as in lieu of a sentence in jail, she is sent to a detoxification and rehab centre for 4 weeks (28 DAYS) .
In terms of pure drama, I felt, 28 days lacked the punch that u wud connect to Sandra’s films like speed etc. If u are a die-hard fan and can’t do without a thrilling, suspense, finger-nail and toe-biting nail finish, then don’t in ur wildest of dreams watch this flick. It scores a major high with its pure drama and emotional draw, but its uncouth and un-warranted overdose of alcoholic behaviour, tends to spring up questions like the lasting effects of alcohol, its withdrawal effects and life’s responsibilities to it.
But a final introspection of the movie, confirms the movie would have definitely been a drag, hadn’t it been for the superlative performance by none other than my fav. actress, Sandra Bullock.
