First of all, something about my taste..
I consider myself as a front-bencher while watching the movies.. If the movie has a good number of jokes, some nice songs I like the movie even if it doesnt provide me much enlightment (for ex: I liked KKG :-o ).. On the other side, if the movie does provide some enlightment, but not much entertainment I would prefer not to watch the movie..
When I watched 3 deewarein, I could watch it for some time (1 hr). After that as my roomie brought Hungama and since it was a fun movie to watch I stopped 3 deewarein and watched Hungama (which was ok.. ) and didnt care to watch 3 deewarein after that.. But after reading reviews on MS, I came to know the climax was very good and watched to movie. And, I was very happy I watched the movie.. The climax was very good....
The point for the long (?) story is: You dont have to like art films to watch 3 deewarein. Until the last 30 min of the movie, yes the movie was slow, but is never boring. And then comes the climax which is very amazing.. Even if you arent very entertained by the first 1 hr of the movie, stay glued to your seat, the climax will definitely please you.. You may or may not like the way the movie was ended but the climax is worth the wait..
About the Movie:
4 Main characters in the movie
Three prisoners: :
Nagya: Who believes he is prison for something, which he hasnt done and believes till the end that he can prove his innocence.
Ishaan: He believes, even if he is guilty, he is not wrong and believes that it was just bad luck..
Jaggu: Believes he has done a mistake and has to pay the price for it..
The way those three characters was chosen is simply brilliant. It provided the director to provide the views of three entirely different people..
And then, thers Chandrika, who is going through an unhappy marriage. Played by Juhi Chawla, this is her best performance to date ( I believe).
And, not to forget, the role played by Gulshan Grover, as the jail superintendent. A very good character in this movie. He tries to reform the people in jail and we need more and more people like him in real life..
The back ground score was good, only used when needed in the movie..
This a movie, which even front benchers like me shouldn’t miss.. So if you havent seen the movie regardless of whichever bencher you are go see it ..
Although, the movie is said to be inspired from The Shaw shank Redemption, the word inspiration really means whats said in the dictionary and not the word inspiration according to Harry Baweja (Qayamat director) or David Dhawan.
The movie was good, but then there are some things which I didnt understand..
Part of the movie was in Hindi, and part was in English.. If the movie was made in Hindi is obviously would have a better market with those who dont understand English.. And if it was targeted towards international audiences it should have made in English, which makes life of the international audience easy.
Some facts:
The movie was shot in Musharabad central jail, which is from Hyderabad :-) . It was being demolished after the shooting for reconstruction.
And, after the shooting, the crew suffered from viral fever :-( , because of the conditions in the jail..
Finally.. comment if time permits, rate it even if time doesnt permit :-) , and congratulate me even if you havent noticed that I am in Best_debut category now
:-))
Cheers,
Sridhar
