There are films that have Different concept, low budget yet they excel over our daily fare Footages.3 Deewarein is a film that comes in this segment.Nagesh kukunoor is one of the best young Film-makers that India have produced in recent past, Nagesh kukunoor could have Easily made a GO-GO GALA GALA movie(2 songs in canada, 2 songs in swiss, 2 comedy scenes, 2 MA BETA EMO SCENES and at last Shahrukh gets the girl), But as far as we Know nagesh Kukunoor, Like hyderabad-blues he takes a subject which many makers would not have dare to.Nagesh kukunoor is one of the bold directors of this ERA.
Now lets move to the subject, A Subject like 3Deewarein is never interesting, Who on this earth will be interested in a story of 3 jailbirds but when a director like Nagesh kukunoor makes it then the Expectations are very high.
3 Deewarein starts with 3 Prisoners who have been sentenced to death punishment JAAGU(jackie shorff), NAGYA( nagesh kukunoor), ISHAN(Naseeruddin shah).And then Chandrika(JUHI CHAWLA) comes to JAIL as she conveys her desire to make a FLICK about these 3 prisioners.Interesting na?.Then Chandrika gets very close to them.But on 26jan ISHAN with the help of Chandrika escapes from the jail but he comes then Chandrika is the sister of a women who has been killed by ISHAN and then they again throw them in prision but Innocent prisioners(Nagesh, Jackie) are released.Nagesh Kukunoor comes up with a story that will be remembered for ever, The scripting is beautifully done, and Execution of the subject is Perfect.As a director, Nagesh kukunoor excels in explaining a good script, The scenes Between JUHI CHAWLA and NASEERUDDIN SHAH are well executed and the scenes between NAGESH KUKUNOOR and JACKIE are the best part of movie.
The Cinematography is very good, the walls of jail, the Brown shaded scenes are of High quality. The background music is mind blowing, The slow sounds of Classical Flute and Tabla wouldnt have worked in any other movie but in 3Deewarein it Works!!
The screenplay is the best we have witnessed in recent past, there is no denying that a Subject like 3Deewarein would have tasted like a Spiceless Biryani without good Screenplay, The dialogues are of High order, 3deewarein would’nt have been completed without those Raw and meaningful lines.
Now coming to the Performances, Naseeruddin shah comes up with another performance for which he can be proud of, Jackie Shroff is outstanding, Nagesh kukunoor comes up with a Performance of Golden words, the actor had the tough role to enact but he acts the role with amazing ease, he gets the best lines and does complete justice with it.Here is a Performance to watch.(after all Hyderabadi hai miya!!!).Juhi chawla is as always Superb, Gulsan grover is First-rate.
Now the flaws, The story of 3Deewarein moves very slowly and there are some scenes that are not expressed properly. And subject is not everybody’s cup ot tea.
On the whole, 3deewarein is a Honest Attempt, it has Script, marvelous screenplay, great Performances to stand out.It stand out as a magnificent example of sincere Cinema.It is worth a dekho atleast, when we can Watch movies like Boom, Muhjse dosti karoge then 3Deewarien unreviels more than them!!!
