This week, 4 films(Chori Chori, Oops, Hungama and 3 Deewaarein), have released!One film which will leave an impression is surely 3Deewaarein!This is not your typical Bollywood film in which there are emotions, suspense, romance and dialogue-baazi!We have a very stylish film, with an original and interesting storyline, in which there are no newcomers, but old actors in a new style!We have a suspense thriller film which is very different than the so-called suspense thrillers like Humraaz or Baaz-A Bird In Danger!
THE FILM:
Metalight Productions 3Deewaarein, directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, stars Jackie Shroff, Naseerudin Shah, Gulshan Grover, Juhi Chawla and Nagesh Kukunoor, himself!One cannot say that this is one of the most awaited film of this year, because it is very different film, which didn`t get much hype.Last week, I saw its trailor, which said Releasing on Aug.1, and I couldn`t believe it!So, this proves that the director didn`t make this film, thinking that this film will be a hit or a flop or made it just for the HECK of it!He has introduced a movie like 3Deewaarein, to Bollywood without caring whether it will be a hit or a flop, because he knows that he made an excellent film, which will definitely be appreciated by everyone!
THE CHARACTERS AND PERFORMANCES:
1.Jaggu(Jackie Shroff):Jaggu, is a poet and a lawyer.He is in jail, to be hanged because he murdered his wife!The reason was that his wife wasn`t faithful and was having an affair with someone else.This person, is not so bad, still he accepts his fate, without any regrets!We have been seeing Jackie Shroff in totally useless and side roles!In Devdas as Chunnilal, in Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaye as Salman Khan`s stupid friend!He has been terribly wasted, sometime back, but this is kind of a comeback for Jackie Shroff, in a role, in which he excels!In every single scene, his face expressions and dialogue delivery are so impressive, that he makes every scene interesting!This time he hasn`t been wasted but has showed how talented and fresh, he is, even now!
2.Nagya(Nagesh Kukunoor):Nagya is also behind the bars, with Jaggu and Ishaan, because he threw his wife infront of a speedy car!What are the reasons behind?Who is this person?What if he isn`t that bad!Nagesh Kukunoor, has given amazing direction and it is very difficult to give an amazing performance, at the same time, but Nagesh Kukunoor has managed to excel in everything.In direction and also as a performer!
3.Ishaan(Naseerudin Shah):Ishaan, is a happy-go-lucky, jolly person, who is with both Jaggu and Nagya, arrested in the case of a murder of a pregnant woman!He didn`t do it, intentionally, but it happened so!How?Why?Naseerudin Shah, also shines as Ishaan!He isn`t irritating at all, not once does he goes overboard, actually he is the BEST!He is just PERFECT in a role which fits him like a glove!
4.Chandrika(Juhi Chawla):Chandrika, is a documentary film-maker, who is making a film on these three men, locked behind the bars!She has an abusive husband and a terrible past!She is a struggling lady, who wants to know, full information about these three men, Jaggu, Nagya and Ishaan!She can see the positive side of these three murderers, while all this!Juhi Chawla`s first scene, makes the film more interesting and her character is intorduced very well!She makes her presence felt in a male dominated flick and excels in a role like this one!She also looks beautiful and with it gives a STRONG PERFORMANCE!
Gulshan Grover, also lends a commendable support as Mohan, the jailor!
THE STORY:
Three men, Jaggu, Nagya and Ishaan are arrested, because three of them have murdered different people and have commited crimes.All of them accept all what life has given them!In their lives, enters a struggling documentary filmmaker, who wants to make a film on these three men, who are locked behind the bars!She also has a terrible past, and now she can understand, these three men very well!She becomes like their friend!There is later a twist in the story!What happens!Well, I can`t tell!See the film yourself!
WORK OF THE CREW:
Nagesh Kukunoor`s, direction is amazing, and he has handled every scene with sensitivity and maturity!Every single scene, especially the climax and introduction is very interesting!He has extracted amazing performances from everyone, even himself!Screenplay is gripping and the best!Not once, will you get bored!Editing is crisp!Cinematography and special effects are amazing!Background Music is haunting and effective!
ON THE WHOLE:
3Deewaarein, is not a film, which is for entertainment and a nice time-pass!It`s a serious film, which is to be taken and viewed seriously!The film has an original and interesting storyline, which won`t disappoint but surprose the viewer!HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
