Have seen 3 IDIOTS today at the nearest Multiplex in Toronto. MINDBLOWING movie. best film of the decade, awesome crispiest screenplay and very intelligent direction.
Just four minor flaws
- The friendship between the 3 Idiots was not shown as such that how it developed, their so strong bonding felt a bit sudden.
I know the movie is based on education system and not on friendship, BUT there should at-least SOME moments and interesting incidents that could show that how the three guys approach each other and became connected so strongly mentally, it could be done in a very interesting way and would not have taken more then a few minutes.
What we have seen was Rancho coming in the college, has shown some extra-ordinary approach towards life to all of the students(not exclusively to Sharman and Madhvan) and the next scene we see three of them acting like childhood best buddies without any kind of direct communication or development of any sign of such strong friendship.
- If Rancho was so carefree and strongly believed in enjoying every moment of life, then why he was so scared of the seniors ragging and closed himself in the room.
I dont mean that he should fight against ragging.I want to say that Rancho was shown full of life person who wanted to enjoy every moment, then why he was scared and shy away from such a funny and enjoyable thing like raging? he should have also taken it sportingly and jokingly like he took everything in the movie.why such a normal and fun-filled thing like ragging became an issue for him? he should have participated in it instead of avoiding and getting scared & worried, that attitude didnt matched with rest of his personality traits in the movie.
- The reason of Ranchos sudden disappearance was not quite convincing. If he loved his friends & girlfriend so much and was so close to them then he can write or explain everything to them and could keep in contact instead of breaking every bond with them for ever.
I know there was a deal with the real Rancho(Javed Jafree) but being such a true friend and also lover, he has some responsibility towards them, he could have tell them all because they all were so much close with each-other.
- The climax I think was a bit weaker as compared to the rest of the film which was just OUT-STANDING, i.e. the last dialogues of Kareena like "free advise. run for your life" etc didnt made a great and punching effect for an otherwise out of the world movie. the last 3 to 4 minutes very a bit dull, I mean there should be some hammer-hitting effect in the very last scene.
Hammer hitting effect does not only mean some kind of violence or melodrama, it could be done in funfilled but effective way too like in Munnabhai Mbbs with dad son jaadu ki jhappi, TZPs last scene etc.in my opinion 3I last few minutes dialogues could be a bit more funnier, fresh & energetic.
I am a great fan of AK and gave my totally honest opinion on 3I . due to these 4 minor flaws, I have to cut 0.5 and wanna give 3 Idiots 4.5 out of 5 stars, I wish I could give it 5/5.
But infect I personally gave 4.5 to Andaz apna apna too because of its last 25 minutes "Adda" fight scenes that didnt quite jelled well with the rest of the out-class movie, which I can understand that AAA was already 4 year late and Santoshi just wanted to wrap it up to complete it.
In my critics book I gave my highest rating 4.5 to only 4 film Mother India, Mughal-e-Azam, Pakeezah, Andaz apna apna and now Three Idiots.
