3 Idiots: Perfect Screenplay

Is this a coincidence? 3 idiots and “Lage Raho MunnaBhai” both of them are RajKumar Hirani’s fabulous works. But you will say where is the coincidence, well just a second. Let me complete. This coincidence is related with me. I watched these both movies one first day of their release(these are the only two movies I have seen on first day).More importantly at the same theatre(Rajmandir) with no movie seen in between at the same theatre. There is more, I liked both of them. Though I didn’t write any review about the last one, but this time I will.

Ever since I have seen “Lage Raho” I became a fan of RajKumar Hirani’s Screenplay. The plot and presentation of the ideas were highly appreciating. I liked the way; he projected his ideas, ideas which may be boring or monotonous if not dealt with properly. Surely the star cast does make task easier(in the former case it was “Sanjay Dutt” and in this one the young “Amir Khan”) but it is the direction which is crucial and holds the entire burden. One thing that I admire most about Hirani is to project the serious issues in a funny manner at the same time not letting the importance of the issue go down.

For many it may be a funny or a comedy movie but for me it was a Social movie with a message. As it becomes clear with the variety of issues taken in the movie, like the efficacy of the Indian Education System, parental Pressure, suppressing youth interests, exam pressure, and specifically a satire on Engineering Education. Being Engineering under Graduate, I could imagine and easily understand the mindset of a student. I too felt that there is lot more to do in many Imperial Colleges of the country(ignore IIT from this list for no counter-point against me). Thousand of Engineering Colleges in India still need to adopt and follow the model spoken by Amir Khan.

In this blog I want to focus on two things:

  1. The excellent work done by RajKumar Hirani, once again. I am not taking credit out from Amir Khan, R.Madhvan, Sharman and Kareena. They too did their role wonderfully. Like any other Bollywood movie, this movie too had some masala recipe to serve at places like the ZOOBY-DOOBY, but ignoring all, the plot was amazing, and the chemistry of ‘3 idiots’, the college life seemed realistic.

I believe it is not important which topic you are presenting but how you are presenting. Like for example, the scene of Raju’s home when all of them ate their dinner could have been monotonous, dull and boring had there not been the laughter added by ‘the itching scene’ and guys still galloped their bite. All is well, was given an Indian Version(aaaalll is well) which was quite catchy. Amir Khan once again proved to his best.

  1. The second focus of my post is the issues raised in the movie. I believe that these are the most contemporary issues which need immediate attention. I assume that by this movie not only youth will re think on their decision for their careers but also parent will create less peer pressure. I don’t want to get into writing about sociology at this time.

To summarize, the movie asserts all its expectation. A brilliant movie to watch.
