There was only 1 round of general interviews. I applied for this job on Indeed.com. The HR personally messaged me in Indeeds about few questions like current CTC, expected, notice, etc. After I shared the details she asked if 11 am works for me for the interview. These conversations happened on 9th July. I replied yes, but no interview invitation was sent. On the 19th, HR messaged me on Indeed.com notifying my 2nd round of interviews will be on the same day itself at 6 pm. I was in search of a job so accepted the interview invite. Please see it was named 2nd round of interview, whereas there was no 1st round. HR meant the screening questions to be 1st round. Also, I had no discussions or call with HR regarding anything of my current skills. Just because she scheduled my interview, she called me up to acknowledge it in the mail. It was a short 10 to 15 min interview where very generic and casual questions were asked.
The very next day or the other, HR called me up and negotiated on my current salary. I agreed because I needed a job. Again finally before sharing the offer letter she asked that as I am married do I have any plans of extending my family. I answered no, though this shouldnt be any of their matter of concern. Unless I serve the organization for a year at least I shouldnt be allowed maternity leave. Since organizations are so choosy about giving or not giving maternity leaves to women, many percentages of women drop off from their careers at this point. Is being a mother womens fault or Gods?
I joined the company accepting their rubbish company guidelines. Please see the image to understand. Unfortunately, I was not well on the very first day of work. I understood they must have felt annoyed about it, but health issues will not know whether its my 1st day or last day at work. Why dont the organizations understand this? Is it because of remote work because they cannot see me or even in general scenario they will behave the same? I know how bad it feels to be not well on the very 1st day, but it is how it was. The CEO called me at starting hours in the morning, just saying you are ready? lets start, and started explaining to me about portals guidelines and then my work. There were no greetings, welcoming, onboarding messages, welcoming with other team members, communication channels, nothing. I wasnt said anything about how small or big their team is during the interview process. The so-called CEO said they use WhatsApp web so I have to use it for formal communication. I inquired dont we have Microsoft teams or outlook, he said no, WhatsApp is much convenient. I agreed. The next day HR called and asked me if I have shared my 1st work with sir bla-bla. I said I dont know who is my reporting manager here, who are other team members, how do they communicate with each other, I have no clue what was going on. I gave up that day itself. I sent a mail that I am not continuing with your organization. After this, they say me unprofessional. The HR began her interview process by pinging in a private message in Indeed and invited for a 2nd round of interviews after 10days of their so-called 1st round of interview that too she said it will be on the same day. Wow so professional they are. I was suddenly not well the very 1st day, I had to rush to the doctor but it was almost at the end of the day but still, that is unprofessional. Because according to them we are not humans, we are robots. According to their guidelines, their software will be able to click our picture from our laptop webcam to check if we are in front of the laptop all the time or not. Oh God tell them we employees are humans, not robots. The employees are working until the daily work is delivered and results are achieved at the end of the month.
This is a very bad process followed in India, employers negotiate employees salaries. I understand it is pandemic, but before the pandemic, it was the same that whatever hike the employees would ask employers would negotiate on it. Every organization should have a range of hike percentages for employees according to their experience and skills. The hike is given because at the very first appraisal in the year, those new employees will not be liable for it. So if a hike is not given while joining will he or she be given appraisals in the very first year in the organization? If yes, go ahead dont give a hike, 6 months down the line when theres an appraisal month give him or her the desired hike he or she should get. On reviewing the organization 31 West Global Services in Google reviews, I found 99 percent of the reviews were positive about the organization, in LinkedIn there were 49 employees, and the said about the company that it has 51 to 200 employees. They were established in 2002 and headquarters in New York. Every review on Google was positive with a thank you response on it. Truly, I havent seen so many positive reviews for an organization. I was sure it must be a good organization. But, unfortunately, I could all understand that it is not for me. I was hired for the position of Sr. SEO Executive. My boss asked me to outrank the 31 West competitors within 15 days.
Being a professional in the SEO industry, I highly doubt organizations so nosy about rankings and traffic do actually know things about how SEO works. Google is the master of all, no one can beat him or understand his algorithms how it works. Organizations expect from SEO professionals that they fool or trick Google in a correct way but to rank higher in Google.
To SEO professionals, is it the only responsibility of you to rank in 1st place in Google and thats it? What do you think organizations should know about SEO? How early is it possible to rank a website in 1st from 6th position for a b 2 b business? What do you think was I unprofessional here or the HR or the Organization as a whole? Were those reviews done by employees in real? Why was not I introduced to them on the first day?
