Any review on Books is purely subjective. At the very outset, let me put on record that the following reviews are purely from my standpoint. There may be some readers, who may choose to differ.their views are always welcome!Any review has to start with one of the most endearing piece of work by Anurag Mathur. The Inscrutable Americans
1)The Inscrutable Americans - By Anurag Mathur, is the story of a Gopal, a small town boy who goes to the US of A & his changing perceptions of the American Land.Lucidly told in simple Indian English, this book will put a smile back on the most frowniest faces.I was referred this book by a friend of mine & with a lot of scepticism, I started the book. And mind you, I devoured the book in one sitting!
The best part of this book is that the reader(s) would easily associate themselves with some of the prdicaments that Gopal faces in the course of his sojourn from Jajau to America!
2)The next on my fave list is a book by the master of thrillers- Lord Jeffery Archer. this one is the Saga of Kane & Abel.Actually to have a complete satisfaction, the book should be read in the series starting with Kane & Abel, moving on to The Prodigal Daughter & ending with Shall we tell the President.
Jeffrey Archer starts with the saga of two men born on different parts of the globe on the same day, thier careers that criss-cross innumerable number of times, moves on to the second generation in the Prodigal daughter with Florentyna Rosnovski & Richard Kane. This is one series that ages like the wine & seems even better with innumerable sittings.
3) Lastly, I would be lying if I did not speak about Sidney Sheldon & his classique masterpiece( my judgement purely)If Tomorrow Comes.I remember reading this book in School & just saw the movie of the same name recently on T.V.Believe me, the movie has done grave injustice to the book. The book starts of at a fast pace & takes us through the entire gamut of human emotions that include love, betrayal, fraud, greed & finally marriage.Tracy Whitney, the main protagonist, is wrongly accused of fraud. She is jailed, loses her job, her fiance as well. Finally she makes good her escape from prison & enters the world of Frauds & thefts.this one is not to be missed at all!
4) Fredrick Forsyth & the day of the Jackal have been on my top ten list( not that it matters) ever since my first reading. Thanks to my sister who introduced me to the author when in school, this is one book that I always recommend.the less said about the story the better.READ IT!One aspect that marks him from the others is his detail to authenticity & the vivid descriptions that he gives.Sets your mind racing & before you realize, you are moving with the plot!
And Finally, HAPPY READING!
