Way too difficult to pick

Well guys this is a list of 5 of my favorite books . and not in any particular order.

The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.

This is the funniest book I have ever read in my life. Douglas Adams’ genius consists of the weirdest possible sense of humor, his imagination and impeccable narration.

Hitch hikers guide is a parody of various science fiction concepts written in a very very funny vein. The dialogue in the book is amazing and timing is just too good. The characters and situations in the book are literally out of the world. Douglas adams mercilessly lampoons every known concept in science fiction literature.

Calvin and Hobbes by Bill Watterson.

Calvin and hobbes is probably the most endearing, smart and comic strip . ever. . I am yet to see one person who has read the strip and not just fallen head over heels over it.

Even though calvin and hobbes appears to be very simple from the style and the number of characters involved in the strip. bill watterson manages to touch so many aspects of being children and raising children that it never ceases to amaze you. And what I luv the most about the strip is that fact every body can identify with calvin and what he goes through. through moments he spends with hobbes to moments of deep reflection on our day to day lives.

I guess what makes this book great is the fact that this is a comic which is timeless . not political. not slapstick. and reeks of innocence of a childs heart.

Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach

This book is deceptively short and deceptively simple. On the surface it is the story of a Seagull striving for perfection. But deep down it touches on attitudes needed to succeed in life. To be happy in life and what it means to move to higher goals in life and even further the return to empathy and love.

This is a book I would recommend strongly to any and everybody and depending how much you are searching for truth, you will see yourself enriched that much.

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott card.

This is another deceptively short and endearing book. Though the book is small. it has a lot of depth and has an amazing narrative.

Orson scott card is gifted with an imagination for things and insight for which are interesting and touching. The book is a story of social psychology, military strategy and myraid of science fiction theories. But the corner stone of the book is the insight he brings into the lead character. His struggle against himself, his struggle with the people around him and ultimately his struggle against aliens.

A must read for any person interested in a good story. Not just for sci-fi buffs.

Papillon by Henri Charrier.

Imagine the grit and determination of man who is condemned to a life sentence on a god forsaken island and keeps trying incessantly to break away from it.

Papillon is the true story of Henri Charrier, who was a petty thief in the french underworld and is falsely implicated in a crime and sentenced to a lifetime of prison sentence in a remote island( I forget where the island . prolly somewhere like french guyana or something). He is driven by vengeance keeps trying incessantly to escape from the prison. In a way his quest for vengeance is what keeps him alive.

This book graphically portrays the brutal french prison system and what determination. really really really means. it is impossible for any body not to read this book and go. Oh my%@!@in god!
