I was in love with Drew Barrymore when I first saw her on the screen, she is so beautiful and on top of that an amazing actress, I’ve seen few of her movies, Charlies Angels, music and lyrics, poison ivy, and I feel that her best performance was in music and lyrics, but her best comic flick is undoubtedly The 50 First Dates.
When I heard about it, I googled about it, and looked up in imdb, found it great, and I was, after reading the Title, knew the basic plot, that its something related to dates, I mean dates over and over again, but I was thinking that the Guy would be having the 50 first dates with his 50 new Girl friends, but it was in fact for Drew Barrymore.
The Plot : Well, nothing to complain about, the plot is short and complete with good background score.The best part of the movie is Drew Barrymore, she looks fab, and even Adam Sandler was flawless.As the name tells, the 50 first Dates is about the dates b/w Adam and Drew.
This is based on our very own gajini type of plot that is Short term memory Loss, but in this case the memory doesn’t last for 15 minutes, Drew, who had an accident and is suffering from Short term memory loss, memory of only 1 day, and the next day when she wakes, its all blank. She has a father and a brother, her father loves her so much that he never lets her realize that she is suffering for short term memory.
Every day, her father sets up the day with the same newspaper, same rugby match, and same Sunday, and every morning, she goes to a restaurant, and that’s where Adam(Henry Roth) a veterinarian living in Hawaii first sees Lucy(Drew) and falls in love with her leaving his playboy life behind.
Bus as he is unaware of what Lucy is going through and since she can never remember meeting him, Henry has to romance Lucy every single day and hope that she falls for him. And this everyday romance creates a different kind of comedy, one which I have never seen before. Its a light hearted comedy with very precised plot with bit of emotion when Lucy realizes that she is suffering from short term memory, and than she decides to leave Henry, But as Henry loves her so much, he doesn’t stop .b
Those who have seen the movie would definitely agree that the Best part of the movie had to be the Climax when Drew plays the video tape, and realizes that she had been married to Adam, and when she walks up the stairs, she is amazed as they were in the middle of the sea, and what more, she is a mother of a girl. A beautiful movie of the most beautiful actress. You will love it, and if not, u definitely can’t hate it!
