It Tastes Like Plastic!

During the excessively hot summer months of March, April and May, I do sometimes(at most once or twice a month) treat myself to a glass of lemon flavoured fizzy soda.

My favourite brand of soda is Sprite, but I had to unfortunately, settle for 7UP, last week, as Sprite was interestingly, out of stock, in not one, but seven retail outlets, across my neighbourhood.

In contrast to the refreshing, lemony and soothing taste of Sprite, 7UP was a massive let down, in terms of taste. Not only did the soda go completely flat(it lost all its fizz) within 48 hours, but I also had the pleasure of tasting(for the very first time), a wonderful(sarcasm intended!) combination of lemon, sugar and plastic! Yes, plastic! 7UP has got such a synthetic taste and as a consumer, I do fear for my health, as a result of drinking such a brand of soda, because of the excessive chemical content!

I am aware that drinking soda on a regular basis is bad for health, due to its excessive sugar content and I completely agree that nothing can beat the benefits of drinking water regularly(at least 6 to 8 glasses a day) or settling for some freshly squeezed orange or lemon juice.

But if you do have the urge to indulge with a soda(once in a while), please don’t settle for 7UP.

In terms of the pricing of variants such as the 2 litre and 1.75 litre bottles, there is a mere Rs. 5 difference between the brands, while the 600 ml bottle, costs the same, for both brands.

My advice is to not compromise on taste and hence, settle for the better tasting soda!
