Executive Class !

I got this one last Saturday and was really impressed !

I was looking with a phone with lots of storage and the ability to sync my contacts with the PC. This phone has a large 10 line display with blue backlit, a 550 kb memory [can store 100 SMS, 800 contacts with 26 fields each, polyphonic ringtones and pictures, icons etc].

Unfortunately this phone does not support MMS - the standard followed by Nokia and Sony Ericsson. This makes it a bit difficult to share multimedia messages with the other phones. It uses EMS and sound SMS instead.

This is a dual band phone with good reception & extremely light [85 grams]. The battery is excellent - I charged the battery initially for 2 hours and it still shows a full charge. They boast of an impressive 5 hour talk time which is high compared to 2.5 - 3.0 hours of talk time with Nokia.

It is equiped with GPRS 4+2 capability, but I don’t have a GPRS connection and haven’t tried it yet. It has WAP 1.2.1 Openwave browser. It also has an infra-red port. You can use the phone as a modem too.

I am yet to receive the data cable [RS 232] and the software but the features are just impressive. You can transfer music, images and yor contact lists from the PC to this phone. I am just waiting to use it with my MS Outlook. Compose your own melodies, create your own wallpapers and use them on the phone !!! That is a lot of goodies for me. Also, graphics can be imported to the software, for transforming to EMS icons, wallpapers and Caller ID graphics. It is fun with all those tools! Anyone seen a phone with an option for a landscape display? This one has it. Even Nokia and Sony Ericsson cannot provide such playing tools!

The phone is quite sturdy in spite of its elegant look. I dropped it a couple of days back from a moving vehicle and it went tumbling 3-4 feet. However, apart from a few scratches, there is nothing wrong with it still.

However, the default ringtones that come with the phone suck and the volume is really low. If they would have put a color display, this phone could have created tremors.

This phone has a distinct masculine flavour and all this for a price that you can never imagine ! I got this one for just under a grand.
