So Angry Indian Goddesses released on November 27, 2015. I did hear about it, but never really paid attention to it. It was three days back that one of my friends told me to watch it.
I didn’t know what to expect at first. But as the plot unfolded itself, I was transported somewhere else.
It’s a story about 7 women and their personal battles in life.
Characters:
Frieda Da Silva(Sarah-Jane Dias) - Is a photographer based in Goa. She is getting married and hence decides to call her friends for her wedding.
Nargis Nasreen(Tannishtha Chatterjee) - The revolutionary. She is the one fighting the big companies for the poor. She has some differences with Sugandha.
’Mad’ Madhurita(Anushka Manchanda) - She is a singer in Bollywood. and Freida’s oldest friend.She is getting breaks in Bollywood but she is unable to release her album.
’Su’ Suranjana(Sandhya Mridul)- plays a pretty strong character of a business woman who is always on the phone trying to crack deals. In this process, she loses touch with her daughter, Maya.She priorities her job over Maya.
’Jo’ Joanna(Amrit Maghera) - She is a struggling actress who wants to make it big inn bollywood. But she is only cast for her body and the way she looks and is never taken seriously!
Lakshmi(Rajshri Deshpande)- Freida’s domestic help who is more like family to her.She is fighting for her brother who was murdered and trying to get him justice for the past 8 years.
’Pammy’ Pamela Jaswal(Pavleen Gujral) - She gave up on her dreams and got married listening to her parents. She has been in the marriage for 5 years but is not happy and later files for a divorce.
Story:
Freida is getting married and she calls all her friends to Goa for the same. They all arrive bringing different baggage.All the girls who have been invited still don’t know who Freida is getting married to, when she finally reveals that she is gay and is getting married to Nargis, they all are happy for her, while her father is not coming to the wedding as he is against it. The girls while going on a trip get in a heated argument with some guys who start to eve-tease them. They all get furious about the society functions and how helpless they are.
Later when they are celebrating on a beach, a day before the wedding, Jo gets in an argument with Pam and leaves to take a stroll on the beach. When all of them can’t find her after hours of searching, they start to get worried and finally find her lying down and bleeding. They later learn that she is dead. The police rather than helping them tries to cross-question them and put up allegations on them for wearing short clothes and drinking. Later when they get back they find out it’s the same gang of guys who raped and killed her. Su gets angry, takes a gun and heads to the beach to find them, when she does, she fires at them, the girls all reaching right behind her.
At the prayer meet of Jo, the inspector arrives and tells the people that he has found 5 men dead on the beach and he knows that the killers are sitting in the church at the moment. When he asks them to stand on their own. the whole congregation stands up in support of Jo and her friends.
It’s a must watch film for all. It teaches us a lot of things and is surely better than other illogical Khan movie. Movies like this deserve to be be viewed and this movie has not got its due.
