Asus Zenpad 8 is the top end model in its zenpad range . The design looks good but the perfomance is very bad .Here are some key features if this tablet: -
Display:
It has a 8 inch( 1280x720) screen with 189 pixels per inch which is very low . I have seen lack of details in the screen and the colors also appear a bit dull sometimes .It would have made more sense for Asus to use a Full HD screen considering the premium positioning on the Zenpad range.
Camera:
It comes with a 8 megapixel rear which records 1080p videos and 2 megapixel front camera records upto 720p videos .Tablet users dont use the camera very much . I have seen some lack of details in the pictures .The front camera is not the best for video calling. The camera UI is excellent and there are lots of modes and tweaks .
Software:
It runs on Android Lollipop( 5.0) with ZenUI overlay on top .The UI is very easy to use with the apps sorted in groups. There is fairly a lot of customizing options and tweaks which you can set for your preferance .There is a lot of bloatware which comes pre-installed which could not be uninstalled and takes a lot of space.
Storage:
It comes with 2gb of ram with 16gb internal storage .The micro SD card can be expanded upto 128gb . LTE is supported . The internet connectivity is fine and the call quality is also decent .
Battery:
It comes with a 4000 mAh battery which is necessary for a 8 inch tablet . If you want to use it as a smartphone with data services running then it will last for you a day . But if you play heavy games and do a lot of multitasking then the battery will not last for one day.
Perfomance:
It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor . The perfomance is good, the apps and games ran smoothly but I saw some lag while playing heavy games like Asphalt 8, Shadow fight 2 etc. I have seen some minor lag in the home screen .
Final Verdict:
I bought this as a gift for my dad . He likes the camera and design but the perfomance is bad after using it for 4 months . If you are looking for a mid-sized and affordable tablet you can go for this one but if you are looking for heavy gaming and multitasking then you should look for other tablets in this range . I do not recommend this tablet to you if you are looking for a decent tablet check out the Mi Pad .
