Should you spend Rs.350 for a film like Blue? nah.....better go and watch All The Best which will give you 2 and a half hours of non stop comedy. Blue had lots of expectations with it and had generated a lot of curiosity for itself with the underwater promos, scary stunts with sharks and stuff and the ensemble star cast like Akshay Kumar, Sanjay Dut, Lara Dutta and Zayed Khan. Has it managed to live up to those expectations?
Apparently the answer is a big NO. A 1 hour 57 min film, Blue holds you to your seat only for the last 25 minutes. The first half is damn boring. At the interval you wonder if you did the right thing buying the ticket for this movie. There is no interest generated at all. The second half also is no better until you reach the point where Rahul Dev kidnaps Lara Dutta.
Then the film starts to hold you and Sanjay Dutt begins to take you over. The underwater sequences when they go to find the treasure is damn interesting and very well shot. Only those 20-25 min are worth watching in the whole film. The ending is also crappy because I didn’t understand it at all. If Akshay Kumar had to clear his dad’s name maybe he should have just asked Sanjay Dutt to help him. The character of Sanjay Dutt is shown to be very good and honest so I think he would have helped him anyway.
There was no need to hatch all that silly plans which brought trouble to everyone around him. Apparently Blue is another Cash and Luck where they have focussed only on stunts and visual effects and have forgotten everything about the plot and the story. Zayed Khan looks like what the hell is he doing in the film, Lara Dutta has no role at all even though she has tried to give her best. Katrina Kaif looks hot in her special appearance. Sanjay Dutt on the other hand has given an excellent performance overshadowing Akshay Kumar completely who was Ok but I would prefer him in comedy movies only. His 8*10 was also not of my taste.
The cinematography is excellent. All the underwater sequences, all the stunts are shot beautifully. It actually looks like a hollywood film with great special effects and stuff but with a bad plot. The music is also okay-ish. The pick of the lot is the blue theme and the chiggy wiggy.
All in all I won’t advise you to go and watch Blue in theaters. Watch it when they show it on television but don’t wait for it cause its not worth waiting. Go for All the best or Wake up Sid instead.
