WILD ANIMALS - KEEP THEM WILD !!
This is a wonderful movie, a true story, dramatic, bittersweet, the title song will be remembered by all who hear it. Virginia Mckenna and Bill Travers act as Joy and George Adamson, they are a real life married couple, adopt Elsa a Lion, The review of this movie has to be different than any other movie, if the movie was not so good, I would not have written a review, every home which has a DVD player or a Video player should keep this movie for their kids, this movie will bring the immense pleasure on the faces of our angle kids, I will give anything to keep my kids smiling.
The story is George Adamson a game warden in Kenya in 1950s or something, on a routine tour of his territory, kills a charging female lion in self defense, George discovers that the lioness has 3 cubs, this is all shown in the film, like a documentary, he brings the cubs home as he is sure they will die if left without the mother. Cubs grow old and they become difficult to handle in the Home/Camp they are living, he hands over 2 cubs to the ZOO and keeps ELSA the baby lioness with him as a pet in their house.
This movie is better than all the cartoon movies we see, the treatment to animals in this movie is better than cartoon movies, it is better than the famous LION KING cartoon movie, you
will enjoy this movie better than any other movie filmed upto today. This is a better movie than Jurassic Park, this is a better movie than BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE, this is a better movie than E.T. a better movie than any childrens film ever made. It is a must see for all children of this world.
You will find you will be rooting for ELSA, shedding tears for her, you will feel joy and upliftment all thru this movie and the end is most joyful and fantastic. It is roughly one and a half hour movie of pure joy. Dont get me wrong this movie is good for adults too, the whole family is the target audience of this movie. There are very great shots of African wild life in this movie, the story of this movie is full of animals and ELSA and her struggle to survive.
By now you all know this film was a adaptation of a book written by Joy Adamson. The cat and its caretakers are filmed very beautifully, you can see the genuine affection as they interact, 3 different lioness did the role of ELSA. There is no sex no swear words, no violence, no shoutings of revenge or anything, its just NATURE and its ways all the way. I am a sucker for nature and natural stories. If you get the DVD the picture quality is good, you can get it from any leading stores or from AMAZON.COM.
Born Free is the kind of movie that can play well for both adults and children, what can I say it is better than DISCOVERY CHANNEL and NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC CHANNEL documentaries of wild life, this is a story done tastefully and produced by Carl Foreman a very respected producer himself, the story is very cute also, its not just wild life, there are so many aspects related to a pet lion who became a darling of the adopted family and because of its adulthood, it has to be sent away to Rotterdam ZOO and the family being game wardens family, they know a bit about wild life and its habitat and they dont want their pet to end up undernourished and wasted away in a ZOO cage, so they take up the difficult task of training a LION to hunt and that is usually done by the MOTHER Lioness. There I could not stop myself and told you the main points of the story.
I recommend this film for every family to keep a copy in your collection. Those who have read the books and loved it will surely want to check out , it is NOT a novelisation of this film, but very tastefully film made based on the skeleton of the novel, Joy Adamson wrote 3 novels all were well received by her readers, I think there are 3 films made on her books but this is the first one and the best of all.
Moreover this film impact was very important when it was released, because those days Lions were considered as dangerous, these books and movies changed all that throughout the world. It showed that animals has emotions and love for the caretakers this movie came long before DISCOVERY CHANNEL or NATIONAL GEOGRAPHER so it paved the way for channels like them by the response people knew wild life holds a place in the heart of us all. Jane Goodall is also one of the hard workers busy to show the world that chimpanzees are to be protected since 1960s.
So here wishing you a film which we know has happy reels and lot to offer watch this film, you will understand the true meaning of freedom. This film won 2 OSCAR AWARDS.
I end by giving you the actors names and the roles they played in this movie.
