Since I moved to Bangalore in the early 2000s, I have been a regular visitor of Casa Piccola. During those days they had only Koramangala and maybe Residency Rd. Since then I have visited their place on CMH Rd and the latest opening in Jayanagar. This review is specifically about the Jayanagar outlet.
Well, what review. Just 2 words. IT SUCKS!
We liked this place because it was a nice open air terrace place. Good for basking in the sun in winters or enjoying a pleasant dinner in the evenings. Best was that this place served liquor. Some of my friends do not prefer continental cuisine and they had Indian food on the menu as well. All in all, it made for a good Sat. evening hangout.
The signs were on the wall a few months ago when we found service indifferent and the food passable. This Saturday was a disaster. First, we learnt that they no longer had a bar licence. The place was awfully empty for a Sat evening. We ordered some salads, a sandwich and a sizzler. For drinks we asked for fresh lime soda and iced tea. Imagine our astonishment when both these drinks were not available. Fresh lime soda is available anywhere, anytime. What kind of restaurant cannot serve this??
The salad & sandwich were ok but the sizzler was a disaster. Anyone who has eaten sizzlers before knows that its served usually on a bed of rice with veggies, fries and the meat. This was just a flat piece of chicken on a hot plate with grilled veggies on the side. The chicken was rubbery...meant it was stale. The sauce was ordinary. I felt stupid for paying 250 bucks for this trash.
Not sure how the Koramangala joint is doing but I am not visiting the Jayanagar outlet ever again and I strongly recommend all readers to avoid it as well.
