I was planning to purchase a car of around 4 lakhs (ex showroom-Delhi).I had gone through several reveiews before purchasing my car. It started from Indica, Santro, I10 and so on. As my usage is very low, I didnt want to go for any diesel car.
Indica (Petrol): Price very good but look didnt attract me. Another point was mileage and after sale service (as per most of the reviews). I heard that the Tata People are not very good in the after sale service.
Santro: Good car, but I wanted a better one**.
I was very much confused between I10 and UVA. I10 looks good from front and inner space is good. Features are really attractive. Only boot space seems to be smaller. I had one more problem that there is no Hyundai showroom nearby our area.
We went to the the Chevrolet showroom and took test drive of the U VA with one of my friends. Both of us were very much satisfied with the riding as well as driving comfort. Front and rear leg space is very good. I am 510". There was absolutely no problem in leg space whether I wasin the driver seat or rear seat. Absolutely no vibration ( even we had mistaken that the engine was stopped while it was on).
Still I thought a second for I10 as almost with the same price (UVA 3.97 EX-showroom Delhi) I10 Magna was giving much more features. As I said earlier that there was no Hyudai showroom in Ghaziabad, I had to go to NOIDA. Then I started analyzing and found the followings:
Specification I10 UVA
Length(mm) 3565 3880
Width (mm) 1595 1670
Displacement(cc) 1086 1150
Power (ps) 67@5500 76@5500
Torque(NM) 99@2800 110@4400
All these things started me to incline towards UVA sacrificing the features giving I10.
I went to the Chevrolet showroom again with my family members and all of them loved the car at first sight. Immediately decided for the same. I bought UVA Base (Bright Red) just one month ago (June 2008).
Reasons as follows:
Incredibly spacious
Excellent leg space
Noise free / almost vibration free
Good look.
Safety
Tubeless tyre
3 years maintenence free
Very good behaviour of the salesman.
This is my first car and even I learnt driving after purchasing the car. Fuel may be the only point of concern. As I am getting around 10 with AC on always in Delhi Ghaziabad traffic and with my novice driving and first servicing is due within 2 days. Some are saying that I will get better mileage as the car runs 1000-1500km (now only 270 km).
Hope I will come to you after some time when I will be more familiar with my car.
Rajib
I have come after almost 5 months only to say that I have no regret purchasing the car. I am getting almost 12.8 kmpl with always AC on in Delhi road. The car has run around 1500km.
