I have been using these Creative EP-630 earphones since 7 years. It would be interesting to tell how I got acquainted with this masterpiece. It came as a free gift with my Dell Laptop. I was least bothered to check it, as I was happier with the stock Nokia earphone that was bundled with my phone. But, once when I casually tried, I was blown up by this Creative’s skull shattering performance and crystal clear notes. Also, the excellent noise isolation and comfort levels it has provided were never experienced by me at that time. Since then, it has become my all-time favorite earphone no matter what kind of audio gadget I use for private listening.
It can produce 6-23000 KHz frequency response which covers the entire sound spectrum of extreme highs and lows that human ear canals can listen and even more juice in terms of frequency. It uses Neodymium magnets to generate excellent low end response. Still, the high frequency tends to shrills occasionally when few 128 kbps genres are played, but I am okay with that. Coming to the durability front, I had unknowingly put these earphones in washing machine for about 5 times since I forgot to take it out of my Denim. Guess what, it just rejuvenated back to its life after drying it for a short stint in direct sunlight. I would call that as damn robust, aren’t they? Another key feature is its price. It’s being traded in market for about~800 INR which is worth paying for such a fantastic product. I am writing this review in the year 2014 and these earphones are there in the market since 2004. You can imagine how it sustains in the budget earphone market for these many years rivalling the established brands like Sony, Panasonic, Philips, JVC etc. It can even better some Bose, Senheisser, Klipsch, Denon, Yamaha models which are on the premium side of the pricing ladder.
Although, there are latest entrants in the market like EP-830, EP-600 from Creative stable, this specific model has got its own legacy & reliability and I would easily term it as the best ever product produced by Creative Technologies till date.
Maintenance tips:
Please do wash the silicone tip with mild detergent and dry it once in a month since the wax from ears can deposit and can detoriate the silicone tips over a period of time.
Try to keep the wires un-tangled always(if you are using a bag, just put it as such in the bag when you don’t use it) since, the copper wires can break eventually during tandem twirls.
Buying tips:
Please be aware that there are so many duplicate counterpart EP-630s available in the market with exact box and design replica; hence I would suggest buying from authorized retailers / from reputed online stores like Flipkart in order to make sure that you are getting an authentic one.
