I ordered a Durga Maa doll from Kolkata and booked through the DTDC agency in Sibpur, Howrah @ +91 74397 4xxxx. The artist suggested packing through the agency as it would be professional and the agency also said they would ensure good packing.
I agreed and the agency charged me 1500 for packing. They shipped the parcel by air for Rs. 3000. It was supposed to reach within 3 days. However, DTDC Bangalore misplaced the parcel and after much follow up from my end, I received it after 5 days. When I opened the parcel, much to my horror it was in bits and pieces. The packing was grossly inadequate for 1500 with no proper cushioning for the idols and the parcel had been handled very poorly by DTDC. Now the agency says it is difficult to get any compensation for the same.
The worst service. Even though it was clearly marked fragile, it was handled very poorly. The packing and shipping cost me more than the idol and now I lost a lot of money and this has cost me a lot of agony. I was looking forward to having this idol for Durga Pooja. But now I lost money and am left in the lurch at the last moment.
