Hubby's Valentines Day Gift

Last April we bought our first Dell home computer and have been happy with it ever since.

Well, over the past several months the boys in the family have discovered a variety of games that they can play on my computer and its rather annoying trying to share all the time. And besides their games mess the performance of my computer up and that just won’t do! And sharing online time has become a pain with them and a teenager daughter in the house. But, we have managed pretty well though. But it is still annoying!

So, over the last several weeks we have tried to upgrade our old IBM computer in order for the boys to play their games on. And after a couple hundred dollars and still not able to set up networking with the old computer we decided to take all the Ethernet Cards, cables and new CD Rom drive because we just could not get the old computer to participate properly and buy just a computer for around 500.00, keeping our old monitor and not needing another.

We had already put about 150.00 in the old computer and hubby wanted to add more memory as well and then the cost was going to keep going up. Why bother when you can buy at https://dell.com and get a new computer for around that 500.00 dollars? So for his Valentines, Fathers Day and Birthday gifts this is what we did. He bought another Dell Computer!

We used our old monitor so that saved us 50.00. If we could have kept our old speakers we would have done so. We also upgradedthe memory as you can see and added a floppy disk drive. The floppy drive will allow us to save information onto a disk for future use. And I save all my reviews onto disk, so the floppy was necessary.

How I Feel

Well certainly life is easier now in our home. Not one of us has any reason to get upset with two working computers in the house with Internet Access!

The computer was ordered on 1-24-04 and was shipped on 1-25-04 and we got it on 1-28-04. The set up was very easy as usual and the computer looks as nice as the other one. The performance is as good and certainly suits our needs.

The boys can play their games now and I can delete those games off of my computer and play my games online at https://pogo.com without having to set a time limit and when my daughter is home, she can get on computer and I on the other.

The game that the boys play the most is Delta Force®. The graphics are actually better on this computer than on mine. The load of the game is instant! So far I we have not had any problems with the game.

As I mentioned earlier this computer suits our needs, meaning, for no more then we needed another computer for, it’ great! There was also software called Sonic™ that came on the computer, which allows us to burn music onto the CD/RW burner. Note: this is not a DVD burner.

My son is also able to use my computer to do his homework, which the printer while my daughter can do her homework on the new computer. Both computers come with Microsoft Words® as well as Corel Word Perfect™, giving us choices to write with.

If you can afford another computer in the house this is the way to go for it’s just as cheap to buy another one instead of upgrading, at least if you want to upgrade to what hubby wanted. Even at the Computer shows the parts to upgrade was going to cost us around 300.00 dollars. So, we spent a little bit more money and got a new computer with a warranty for a year. It was worth it to us.

I hope this has helped in some kind of way.

God Bless!
