Sunday, July 1, 2007: Last day of the holidays and I could not
think of anything to do. Was just about to spend the day sleeping, when
suddenly I started thinking of taking a round in the city. That’s when
the idea of watching a movie crept in my mind. And lo behold! I was
looking at a poster of Die Hard 4.0 at the corner of the street. And
off I went to watch this movie…
Was it good?
Read on…
Awesome, Stunning and Edge-of-the-seat Action. That sums it all!
I really have to give credit to this one. The stunt director
(whoever he is, I did not go through the credits) has done a brilliant
job! And so have Bruce Willis, who plays the un-imitable character of the battered, hurt and bleeding detective John McClane.
So, what’s in the name - Die Hard 4.0?
Its full of hackers and hackers! That’s why… And what they do is
something unbelievable. Here is the plot: A group of computer hackers
led by Thomas Gabriel(Timothy Olyphant) have hacked
through the computer systems of all the government and social agencies
of the country(its US - no doubt about it!). Now, they control all their systems. The whole country is in chaos - the traffic systems and power
supplies gone and rumours about anthrax spreading around the FBI and
Cyber Crime departments add to the confusion. Among the baddies, there
is one super hot computer hacker Mai played by Maggie-Q(she has also learnt Karate or err… something like that!) who is also Thomas Gabriel’s girlfriend.
Detective John McClane has to save Matt Farrell(Justin Long)
before the baddies kill him. He was the one who made the code
(unknowingly of course - he is the good guy in the movie, you know!)
that caused this much destruction. And they do every possible thing to
kill him. But as trademark Die Hard style, anyone whom John is trying
to save, will be saved!
There are also a lot of flaws in the movie. Like, how is it possible
to connect the phone and PDA to every possible device on the way and
control it like it was made for it? And then, there is the emotional
element too. John’s daughter is kidnapped by the baddies(I like this
word!) and now under any condition, John has to get them. John McClane
is sprayed with a million bullets of varying intensity - revolvers,
automatic guns, helicopters and some karate or kung-fu style kicks
(that chick has balls and nice ones too!). And if that is still not
enough then there is one scene where he is being attacked by an Air
Force Fighter Jet and he survives that one too!
(Don’t read this if you haven’t watched the film yet - Thomas
Gabriel is dead with just one bullet when John shoots himself to kill
the baddie(he he) to end the movie - how good is that?)
*Summary: Heck, who cares about flaws? There is John McClane,
there is edge-of-the-seat drama and there are some brilliantly shot
action scenes to keep you busy from the flaws.(And oh! there is that
babe too!). A wholesome popcorn entertainer!*
Well that’s it. I enjoyed the movie and(I hope) you have enjoyed reading my review. Any comments are really welcome!
