This is another one of the books that are recommended in management schools. FISH! is a philosophy. It developed when the author visited and observed the goings-on at the popular Pike Place Fish Market in Seattle.
Although the fishmongers were engaged in their dreary routine work of selling fish - they were in fact having a lot of fun at it. They were playing around, talking to their customers, being friendly and overall happy and enthused. The experience of the author led to the film - Fish! and the book.
The book is primarily about improving the organizational culture; simply put - about making the workplace a charged and happy environment. They identified four characteristics of the fishmongers - the four pillars of the philosophy. This book describes the philosophy which is about - choosing ones attitude, having fun at work and cheering others up in the process. Although the philosophy is good, theory is not as interesting. Thankfully, maybe thats why it is a small book to read.
