Just what i want.

As far as I can recall, Gillette is the oldest standing shaving products manufacturing company in India, and everywhere else. The time old jingle ?Gillette, the best a man can get? has a smooth feeling about itself, notwithstanding the smoothness offered by its range of products. It has been launching and re-launching most of its products, many of which I have used and re-used, but 1 thing which remained and passed the test of time is sensor excel, 1st premium razor by Gillette. Launched in 1993 in India, it has given a service of over 10 years, and 4 years to me.

The razor

Sensor excel is a piece of a symphony, a poetry in motion. I came across it through my elder brother, who had been using the product for quite some time, and I would get jealous seeing him using it. When my turn came to start shaving, I used presto, another product by the same company, for some time, and wasn?t happy with the results, even if it?s being adequate for that time. Then I bought this contraption, contraption because of all the sexy buttons, suave rubber ribs through out the gleaming dull silver coated body, and the words sensor/excel written on the opposite sides at the base. It was love at first sight, which grew stronger and stronger with each use.

The Sensor system has won many awards (for product innovation, design, advertising excellence) and has been accepted into several museum collections. The Sensor Excel twin blade cartridge incorporates a revolutionary skin guard composed of five soft, flexible microfins that deliver at the time unprecedented shaving closeness and comfort. The cartridge rests in a saddle, which aligns itself according to the contour of the face, and thus reducing cuts and nicks drastically. It also has a coating of soft gel type stuff, which slides on your freshly shaved skin, providing a soothing feeling.

The handle is easy to hold, with an amazing grip, as told above, by the rubber ribs provided. The blades on the cartridge are pretty sturdy and last about a month or so after regular usage.

Cool stuff

. The cartridge is easy to clean, especially if you use a jet of water on it after taking it out. The residual hair comes out quite easily.

. The blades are long lasting, and awfully smooth for the first few uses.

. Rotating cartridge helps in avoiding cuts and nicks.

. Cartridges are available in single packs, at the cost of Rs.49, nearly everywhere.

. You won?t need to buy another base as long as you use it.

. For best results do shave twice, but lightly.

Not-so-cool-stuff

#. The blade starts causing serious nicks if used regularly for a long time.

#. The white gel provided on the cartridge runs out within first few applications and thereafter remains a dead piece of rubber, and sometimes comes out. Then it really hurts to shave after that.

#. For long stubble I would recommend going to a barber than giving sensor excel a try, because it would take 3 to 4 shaves and would ruin the blade also.

Despite all that, the truth is that mach3 has come and gone, but I still love my razor more than anything and haven?t thought about parting from it.

It is ideal for people starting out, or those who shave thrice in a week, for its ease of use and low price tag. Even those who shave everyday can give this shaver a try.

After all, for a better, smoother shave, and all the beautiful girls to get attracted to you, use Gillette sensor excel.

Happy shaving.
