“Go” – R
The cast of this movie really made it appealing to me. After watching it, it was so much more than just the cast!
“Go” is three different stories from three different groups of people that are intertwined together taking place in a 24 hour period. Ronna (Sarah Polley) works in a grocery store. She is late on her rent and about to be evicted when an opportunity to get some movie stars some of the drug ecstasy for a party they are attending. She sees no harm in doing this just one time. Her friends, Manny and Claire (Nathan Bexton and Katie Holmes), go with her on this drug deal. She knows the drug dealer, Todd (Timothy Olyphant), casually through another grocery store clerk, Simon (Desmond Askew).
Simon is in the second version of the night’s events on his way to Las Vegas with 3 of his friends. When two of them are stuck in the room with food poisoning, it’s just Simon and Marcus (Taye Diggs) to roam around the town and stir up a lot of trouble.
The third point of view is that of the movie stars, Adam and Zack (Scott Wolf and Jay Mohr). They are the actors who ask Ronna for the ecstasy. Both Wolf and Mohr are quite funny in their parts.
The plot of this film is fantastic! The way the stories were separated, but all were actually connected was brilliant. The writing of John August was very impressive. It was funny, yet dark and wonderfully pieced together. Doug Liman directed this film.
Well, I loved it! I didn’t think this movie would be anything more than a high school drama of drugs and sex. Boy was I wrong! It had me laughing and intently watching for the whole hour and 45 minutes it was on. The cast in this film was terrific and I can picture a bright future for them all. Timothy Olyphant made the movie. His role as Todd was great! Desmond Askew is hysterical. I have seen him on the TV show, “Roswell, ” but that doesn’t do him justice. If you haven’t guessed it yet, I would highly recommend this movie!
Enjoy!
