I had purchased this laptop when I was in college. It was definitely one of the better looking laptops among the lot, but thats about it.
My main problem with this laptop was the amount of heat that it was generating, couple of times I could see a mark in my lap because of the heat. The configuration and everything is good for everyday computing and for doing average college/office work but wait till it gets heated up, youre good without it then.
Initial few months was nothing to complaint. The screen is good, the speakers are above average, have few fancy accessories and I purchased in staples, Bombay which came loaded with few paid softwares and application. It was all good.
Then after few months use. the computer started getting heated up which was noticeable. Taught it is normal and didnt care much. But the heat generation was too much specially when playing some heavy games. Now some may say installing and playing games may be the cause of it. But this laptop had the best in class graphic card and it was supposed to make gaming an easy thing. And I am only talking about NFS.
Once when I came to know that its not normal for a laptop to generate so much heat - consulted the HP service centre and they advised me that I need to change my heat sync device, I was like ok. Costed me 6000. Had to leave my device in the service station for few days then when I got back, it looked it was fine but it didnt stay that way longer.
Same problem. too much heat after a month. This time, the laptop used to get so hot. it used to shut down itself. So I had reached a point where I needed to let my laptop cool off before using again, and the frequency was around every 2 hours of restarting my laptop and some days the frequency was less than 2 hours.
Finally after using for almost a year, I gave up! Before doing this I tried all options trying to sort out with HP, but it was just going round in circles reaching nowhere. Looking back, I feel the basic dell laptops are a better choice. As I said earlier this laptop looks better than most of the laptops out there but operating and using it. there are much better laptops out there and it wall cost you much less. May be it was my device which was faulty, but even if that was the case HP definitely failed to help a customer in this case. May be I was just a college student then or whatever the other reason is. I will not recommend this laptop.
