We went there with Sharma Travels in a packaged tour to spend two nights in Ooty(along with sightseeing). We have three kids so I paid for 4 adults and one child so that we can get two double rooms. This costed me 2000 Rs. more, but for the privacy and the luxury of two bathrooms, I thought that’s a decent price. Lo and behold, the guest services were insisting that they would give us a room with four beds. They were happy to provide an extra blanket for the third kid to sleep on the floor.
When I insisted about the extra money I paid, their excuse was "Don’t you want to stay in the same room - As a family". What a joke?
When I called the travel agent and spent two hours fighting with(my youngest son slept on the coach in the lounge itself), they allocated us two two-bedroom suites. So much fun for getting what I paid for.
As soon as we checked in, I realized waht we saw was only the tip of iceberg. The rooms were horrendous. They forgot to clean the toilet after the previous guest vacated so it was stinking. Guest services(thanks to their two hour turnaround time), took their time to get in and have it cleaned.
Well, I am just tired to relive the friggin stay all over again. So, I will stop.
Good luck finding another decent(hospitable) hotel. I am sure there are many in Ooty. This just isn’t one.
