Disappointment in disguise

This was almost end of 2012 when I had decided to buy a cruiser bike. Since I was coming back bike riding after a long gap of 14 years, I was looking for something affordable, convenient, controllable, good quality bike. While I had almost finalised on Suzuki M800 Intruder after couple of test rides as I was planning to book it for delivery on my son’s b’day on 22nd Feb 2013, Hyosung launched Aquila GV650 in tie up with DSK of Pune.

Had test ride and found bike good to ride on and its a awesome looking bike far below Suzuki M800. So I decided to buy Aquila Pro GV 650 and got delivery of it on 22nd Feb 2013. Everything was fine till initial couple of weeks and the real built quality started showing its colors. The bike started breaking down frequently during city rides and it was becoming very embarrassing to get the bike lifted by road side assistance service every now & then for some or the other reason.

Considering the bike was taken care properly as per schedule of servicing given, it was very frustrating to see such issues cropping up every now & then. Mostly were - starting problem, smoke coming underneath petrol tank, engine turning off while riding, battery not recharging properly. While the service center guys did their best & were very helpful in resolving the issue temporarily, the frustration of having this bike was growing more than proud of owning it. One fine nail in the coffin was when I went to Lavasa for ride with my co bikers and on the bridge near the dam(the famous stoppage for all visitors). After having few photographs and proudly showing & answering to the curious onlookers the bike refused to start in spite all trials. I was lucky to have one rider left with me, who help pushing this bulky bike couple of times, finally it started after few attempt and I had to ride it home without stopping anywhere for risk of not restarting again. That day I decided to get rid of this bike. And this is not only with me there are some of the other issues cropping with many owners of this bike known to me as we all are part of bike group. Most of these guys have also shifted to other brands or bikes. So could finally get rid of it after using it for over 18 months. I feel sorry for the person who bought it, but I had no option to sell it off.

I still love the way this bike looks. But the built quality is absolutely pathetic and unreliable. So I will never recommend this bike to anyone.

I hope they have improved upon these issues and pieces sold now are far better in quality.
