Johnny Gaddar*
My Initial comments – The first thing that strikes you is the movie name -“Johnny Gaddar” so what do you think of a movie with that kind of name and the marketing posters that they had put up at the sides of the road were not too encouraging either (Guy with red googles). As for the music and trailers it generated a little interest in the movie.
Cast-Neil Mukesh (Grandson late Mukesh), Rimi Sen, Dhamender and etc.
The Plot**-
An unusual gang of five people and an additional police officer who launders money. An old gangster (Dhamender), a 6 foot 4 inch hunk, , Neil and remaining two plus the police officer. A big deal involving lots of money is about to go down one of them gets greedy enough to steals the money ( so the title Johnny Gaddar) He makes a make-shift plan to steal the money –a perfect crime ! Not really, things start to go wrong from the beginning or may be right for our young hero. What happens and how happens is what the movie is all about
My comments about the movie-
*The plot is unusual and so is the story. There isn’t any dull moment in the movie. The story appears to be original (until of course I later discover that it has inspiration –but I think in this case I am pretty sure it is original) it has a certain pace which it maintains consistently and I like it!
Special camerawork and special effects are not there and not much used (you will hardly notice any such thing).
The movie USP is the story-Gripping!
My comments about the Cast-
Neil -He is the main character in the movie. Director has been clever enough not to keep the camera completely on him though, which is good considering the plot of the movie.
Neil performs as he is told doesn’t do much experimentation or convince everyone that he is a great dancer or an action star, yet appears good , simple and effective he is not the next big thing in Bollywood (Like Ranbir Kapoor ) but has a style of his own.
Rimi Sen - Her role is OK one but she fails to create any magic. She should probably sit with the director and consider finer details of her role. She doesn’t even provide any eye candy. She is just there. Rimi think where your carrier is going. You looked much better in Hungama (which was not such a good movie) than you do here (which is a good movie) and you should be taking credit for its success but for the very simple portrayal of role by you will not get it.
Dhamender -Has got little role but performs with perfection and is effective too.
Others – They are like the spices in the food and are very effective without them movie will not taste as good. Time has come that we not only acknowledge there presence but also give them there due credit in the success of the film.
My Final comments – Good movie worth a watch.
DVD Buy- If you have spare money.
