‘Krishna Cottage’ is a thriller from Ekta Kapoor. She has roped in Anu Malik again after Kucch to Hai. Anu Malik likes being repeated again. When Anu is repeated, he always does better than the previous movie he was signed with the same director (Line of Control, Saaya, Baadshah and Main Hoon Na). But does he excel here? Read on.
Bindaas – Shaan & Sunidhi Chauhan
I can understand that there was pressure on Anu to create a similar song like in Kucch To Hai, (Ding Dong for those who are still guessing!), but pressure or not, Anu composed an average song. Well he used some nice techno beats and some English lines like ‘I feel like dreaming’. (He did the same in Main Hoon Na using lines like ‘Wat’s up’).Sanjay Chhel’s lyrics are average. Sunidhi seems at ease singing but not Shaan. This guy is screaming and is wasted. Overall, the mix of techno beats, tabla and Sunidhi’s voice make the song quite pleasant. This song can pick up among the masses. I think that the ‘Ding Dong’ song was much better.
Uff Yun Maa – Shaan and Sunidhi Chauhan
Who had this idea of this song? It’s an annoying song and starts with heavy techno beats. You kind of expect a nice tune coming but the same old tune rehashed. Lyrics by Sanjay Chhel are average as well. We have heard the ‘antra’ a zillion times before. Nothing special about this song except for the English pronunciation of ‘r’ by Shaan. Why? Do we need to watch the movie to know? If it’s a teaser, it’s a flop because the song is a flop as well! You can feel that it is a song which has been recorded in a hurry.
Aaju Mein Tum – Kumar Sanu and Alka Yagnik
This song starts with some kind of African singing (is it Anu Malik?) but then, in less than 2 seconds, the Govinda-type-song makes surface. This is a typical Anand-Milind song in the Govinda days. Interestingly, heavy portions of the song is similar to the ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ song ‘Dil Ka Darwaaza’ which was released in 1994. Alka Yagnik sang that song. Lyrics are by Sameer here. The song carries the same instruments even after 10 years. After listening to the ‘original song’, I can conclude that it’s only a rehash. Nothing fresh here. I cannot understand how this song will be picturized in the movie. Please check the ‘Main Khiladi Tu Anari’ song and tell yourself!
‘Hamesha’ – Vishal Lyrics by Shekhar and music by Vishal-Shekhar
At first, I thought that these guys were going to do something different here. I must admit that I am disappointed. It’s the lyrics which make this song stale. Overall, it’s a nice tune but lyrics like ‘Hamesha tera saath rahoonga’. Anyone can write lyrics like that. Hey Shekhar, you are being paid to write this song, write something striking! But some people can like this song because it is a light song and nice singing by Vishal. It can be nice for some but I expect more from these guys now. Nice or not, this song is going to be easily forgotten. The piano and guitar interlude are quite pleasing. I hope it works in the movie to help this duo’s career.
‘Suna Suna’ – Shreya Ghoshal
This is the best song in the album. Credit goes to Anu Malik. Shreya renders the song beautifully. The song is quite haunting and has horror interludes. The orchestration is perfect. Anu has experience and knows how to use the right instruments, unlike newcomers. He uses the tabla, a right dose of violin, the piano, the saxophone but the chorus was not necessary. The ‘Antra’ is just fabulous. The voice and violin go together so well. For a thriller movie, this song is a sure winner.
This album has only five songs. The ‘Suna Suna’ number is the best song of the album. ‘Bindaas’ can become popular because it’s in the trailer. However, the rest are average songs. Surprisingly, the album is already in the charts. Anu Malik delivers an average score but his efforts in the ‘Suna Suna’ number are encouraging.
For a horror movie, we have only one haunting song and the rest seem to be teen songs. Seriously what is going on here? Are they going to dream that much for all these songs to be fitted?
