S-E-L is back with their new album after Lakshya. Though this film does not interested me at all since it stars two of the biggest stars in which I loathe (VivAsh)... But I love the S-E-L team and I want to review this music. May I add, interestingly, each of the songs have its own story...

PyaarMeinSauUljhaneinHaiPyaarMatKarna!!!

Pyaar Mein Sau Uljhanein - Shankar Mahadevan, Vijay Prakash, Mahalaxmi & Sneha Pant

To love or not to love? That is the question. You hear all the answers in this song. Akhtar Saheb again uses words on whether to love vs. not to love where the male singers are against love while the female singers want to love! But that’s all in the https://lyrics... What about the song? Well, in the beginning, Shankar’s voice is mysterious as he says ’’Pyaar Mein Sau Uljhanein Hai Pyaar Mat Karna... <PAUSE>... Jeene Marne Ka Koi Ikraar Mat Karna’’. Totally new instruments are used here in the background as Shankar is singing.

Like bass (you know that big instrument), piano, violins, and male chorus. Throughout the song, it sounds like a classic, black and white, 1950s song. There are use of clairnets, chimes and a mix of female and male chorus. You can almost picturize like this is almost a Kishore Kumar & Madhubala song. The song gets faster along with the use of claps beating together. The song gets even catchier and faster goes on to singing.

Soon, mellow music are used in the background, when Mahalaxmi is singing about the wondrous things of love! ’’...Oh, Pyaar Hi Zindagi Hai, Pyaar Hi Har Khushi Hai...’’ and Sneha joins her adding more good things about love. The two girls go along with the main verse where the men were singing first, but with their own opinion on love. The background music is great, it makes you sway to the music while they agree with the singers doing their thing. The song is totally English style like, European oldies style and it’s great to hear that kind of music.

The songs gets hyped more when Shankar cracks his voice on ’’Pyaar Mat Karna’’.... The ending of this song is foot-tapping all the way as it gets faster and faster, while the are chorus hooting, hollering and saying all the crazy things about love. The singing by everyone is great, especially the chorus coming together at the same time as they go faster. This song will not blow your mind all the away, but it is worth listening because of the lyrics, singing and use of different style & instruments! You may end up dancing on your feet by the end of this song! MY RATING: 8/10

Yes, No, Maybe SO!

No No, Kyun! Ho Gaya Na... - Shankar Mahadevan, Kunal Ganjawala, Dominique Cerejo, Loy Mendonca, Chetan Shashital

The beginning of this song sounds like a retro song of A.R. Rahman, you know, during his old days. Low bass guitar and soft temples are used. Vivek Playeroi & Trashwarya Rai whispers something inaudibly about seeing each other and how things are heating up! ’’No No!’’ says the guys, warning the guy and girl not to fall for each other. I don’t know if it’s me or are the guys trying to imitate Micheal Jackson during the song? At first, I enjoyed the song, but then there were some ’cons’ as I’ve gone on to hear more. Hard hitting beats are used with not many melodic tunes. All the singers are going ’’Yeah, Yeah’’ and doing some odd little rap at the same time. Too westernize! Vividly, the drumming beats sound like from the beats of ’’O Humdum Soniyo Re’’ - from Saathiya. Yet, what is really bothering me is that it is so damn similar to the song, ’’Diamond Dogs’’ from the Moulin Rouge soundtrack! Compare and listen. Putting the tablas into the beat after the first verse has improved a bit better to the song, but it still did not satisfy me. The singers were good, yet they didn’t have much to do with the tunes since there was no melody. This song will grow on you, I just wished they remove some of the corniness...MY RATING: 7/10 {A fair 7}

Aao Naa - Sadhana Sargam & Udit Narayan

Aah, listen to drops of water... Or could it be teardrops? The classical ’Sa Re Ga Ma’ type of raaga is used in the beginning of the song, and I think it’s done by Sadhana and male chorus. I haven’t heard Sadhana’s voice in a while, and it’s pleasing to hear so. Sadhana sings it very softly while the violins sways along. Listen to her voice when she says, ’’...Hum Tum Kyun Khamosh Hai... Aao Naa... Aao Naa’’ with the background music singing with her, it’s beautiful. There are slow foot-tapping moments here and there between the verses and the music. I just wished it was a female solo song, Udit sounded like he didn’t belong there - It wasn’t that majestic and peaceful like Sadhana sang ’’...Aao Naa...’’. Udit sounds like he getting older and his voice cracks at some point during the song. The soft tablas, soft drums, violins, flute and the acoustic guitar plus electric were exceptionally used in this song. A very nice, melodious, peaceful romantic song. Nice to hear it while driving, or watching the rain... It really puts you into the romantic mood, you may get it from the lyrics, the soft music or the melody. Hear it for this one - Definately this is the romantic song of the year... {Not ’’Huuuuuuuuummm Tuuuuum’’ - Yech}... MY RATING: 9.5/10

Main Hoon... Na Na Na! With Style... Catchy Style!

Main Hoon - Sunidhi Chauhan & Shaan

Soft foot-tapping beats are from bass guitar, synthesiser and the drums. The bass from this song sounds exactly like the bass from the Short Skirt, Long Jacket song by Cake - I’m not sure if you guys heard of the band before, but they were one-hit wonders. This song already sounds cool from the beginning. Shaan & Sunidhi brings out their powerful, ’’youthy’’ voice. This song is about fighting by using words, like to see who is better. It’s like a soft version of ’’Koi Kehe...’’. The ’’Woh Bus Main Hoon, Bus Main Hoon, Bus Main Hoon, Koi Doosra Nahin’’ brings out surprises such as using bhangra drums, hard rock style drums and electric guitar. It’s a very hyped song. Shaan’s voice is growing on me nowadays, he improves in his solo part of his verse. Sunidhi is entertaining as always, with her English style singing. It’s a great song for dancing and stuff. My favourite part of this song is when the second verse goes on from the quiet guitar strumming up to the loud drumming part - quite exciting. It may be loud for some people, but I got used to it. MY RATING: 9/10
