Air Conditioner Problem

My vehicle  is covered under extended warranty. Of late the Air conditioning system is giving some problems. It was got repaired in June, 2011 when condenser was changed and again in March, 2012 when the cooling coil was replaced under warranty. When recently started using the Car AC, it was frequently tripping and it was taken to Sri Durga Automobiles on 02.05.2012, from where regular servicing and repairing of the car is being done. After investigation,  the company people told me that the compressor needed to be replaced and the expenses to the tune of Rs.20, 000/- will have to be borne by me as the compressor is not covered under warranty. My question is

  1. When the car is covered under extended warranty, its cooling coil is covered under extended warranty, why not compressor? After all compressor is integral part of the air conditioning system. It is not a consumable item and the company cannot adopt pick and choose policy to cover the items as per their free will.

  2. When the air conditioner was repaired in March, why it was not tested properly although it was kept in the workshop for five days before handing over the vehicle to me instead of my pointing out the fault at a later date. During this period, the air conditioner was not used at all.(Thanks to Delhi’s pleasant weather during this period)

  3. Why should the customer be made to pay the cost of consumables(gas etc.) and labour each time for no fault of his?

In my opinion, the workshop people do not have qualified people and the repairs are done by hit and trial method.


A complaint was also made to Customer Care Department with no positive response. They only offered very nominal discount as if they are doing charity on me.


What is the use of having extended warranty if nothing is covered.
