Maihar Devi Temple is in Maihar of Satna District of Madhya Pradesh. It is on Allahabad-Bombay Rail route. We reached Maihar railways station from Allahabad. Temple is at a distance of about 5 kilometer from railway station. It is at a height of more than 500 feet and we climbed about 1000 step to get darshan of Mata.
This temple is considered to be one of the Shaktipeethas and known as Maa Sharda Peeth a form of Maa Durga and place of power. Millions of devotees from all over India come here during navaratra and Durgapooja. Nariyal(Coconut) is offered as prasad to Maata.
There is pond in nearby forest around the temple which never dries with the blessing of Mata. This is very mysterious temple and no one is allowed to stay here at night. It is believed that Alha and Udal were the great warrior and worshipper of Mata thousand years ago and even today they come and offer first pooja to Mata at midnight after the temple is closed for others. This temple place is liked by both religious and adventurous people due ti its location and environment. This is very important temple who worship Maa Durga as symbol of power.
