Swift Diesel Ldi- A Dream Car

When you think of a diesel car what comes in mind is the maintenance and tired driving. Imagine a dream where you could drive a diesel car like petrol one and enjoy all the comforts as in petrol. **Now Maruti has addressed this dream with the new Maruti Swift Diesel version. When the Swift version of Diesel was launched, I initially thought it would be a flop as it would be the same of Zen diesel. Then after taking the test drive I was really amazed on seeing the performance of the car which couldn’t be said as a diesel car. I analyzed what could be the reason to make the car so powerful. It has all the initial features what the petrol version of the Swift has , but the major difference here is the **powerful DDiS engine.

DDiS is the superior Common Rail Direct Injection Technology that powers Maruti Swift Diesel. CRDi engine is currently found in Hyundai Accent, Ford Fiesta, Tata Indigo, etc. This DDiS engine is also a CRDi engine but almost 5 times powerful than the current one. This is said to be the next generation DDiS engine. This has a 16 valve cylinder head for more power and higher engine response leading to a smoother ride.It has Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) for precise control of valves - another first that delivers better fuel efficiency. It is the only engine with a Chain Drive Timing System, which is maintenance-free for the entire life of the engine.

It is a compact, light-weight and refined engine with an Aluminum Bed Plate to ensure low noise and vibration Summarizing the features mentioned in bold

1. Powerful DDiS engine.

2. Smoother ride

3. Better Fuel Efficiency

4. Maintenace Free5. Less Noise and Vibration Knowing all these features who else will avoid buying such a car. Of course the need for the car matters. After that my immediate plans was to get one as soon as possible. Since I drive average of 50km/ltr I thought I should b going for this one and don’t have to think about any other car. But the strange thing is about the car availability. Dealers all through Chennai disappointed me saying it would take atleast 2 months to deliver the car after booking.

But somehow thru a dealer got through the Ldi ((lower) version of the car within 2 weeks.Though I did nt get the higer end model, I upgraded to Vdi features (more than that) (includes Alloy Wheels, Car Stereo, Remote Locking, Power WIndows, 3M Sun film, Seat Covers, Left side mirror, etc) and I feel it s pretty cheap if u can get it done through the dealer itself. The difference between Ldi and Vdi is 40, 000 which does not include Alloy Wheels and Car Stereo.

So I guess it s better go for the lower version and upgrade of u r choice which comes around 30k.As of now my car has run 700kms which in turn gives me a mileage of around 18km/ltr in city driving conditions. Feel I would get more if driven in highway. WIll update you in this forum then and then of the updates about my car.For genuine buyers, its better to go for a test drive and know about the car fully. After all its maruti s product and you can rely on it always.CheersBrijoy.
