My Experience with Musicmatch

I’ve heard a lot of praise for Musicmatch in reviews on TV and in magazines, but I do not think it is well deserved at all.


I did not like the interface. It certainly LOOKED good, you could have album covers, playlists, etc. But I found it a total PAIN to make a playlist. Excuse me, they call it my ’’music library.’’ It wanted to always see all the MP3s and other media on my computer. And once it made the list it was hard to get it off the list, and kept asking me if I wanted to delete it when I took a song off the list. NO I DON’T WANT TO DELETE IT. I just don’t want it on my list right now.


But anyway, my biggest problem was with their tech support. It is almost non existent.


Let me explain to you the problem I had. I must admit, I have heard of no one else who’s had this problem, it is rather bizarre, but I had it. I downloaded music match, and the first thing I wanted to do was to rip a CD. Well, I set the CD going, left the computer, came back, and none of the files where there! So I tried again with one song... and again the file was there. So, I decided to watch it. I opened up the folder it was supposed to put the file in in windows as it was ripping. When it started, the file appeared, and when it finished, the file disappeared! It was nowhere to be found on my system.


Anyway, I e-mailed support about my bizarre problem. I didn’t hear back from them for WEEKS. By the time I heard back from them, their response was: ’’A new version of Musicmatch is now available, please download the new version and contact us again if you’re still having the same trouble.’’


So, I upgraded. Same problem. E-mailed them AGAIN. AGAIN, it took them weeks to respond, and AGAIN they told me a new version was now out and download the new one and contact them again.


Already, peeved, I downloaded the new new version. Same problem. e-mailed them again. AGAIN IT TOOK THEM WEEKS. AGAIN THEY TOLD ME TO DOWNLOAD A NEW VERSION THAT JUST CAME OUT.


What did I do? I uninstalled it.


So, this sums up their tech support: Wait until a new version comes out, then download it. If it still doesn’t work... download another one...
