Namma MTR which is trademark of Banglore eating culture, has expanded further by opening its outlet in Chennai.
It is centrally located in T.Nagar, the heart of chennai.
It is a small place accomodating upto 30 people.
It has the right ambience, very modern close to the kind we have in pizza outlets all over the globe. The waiters are smartly dressed in T-shirts & trousers with baseball cap. The furnitures are very basic and the everything is served in plastic dishes. Its very trendy and cool.
But alas the food is just ok...!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the biggest shocking thing bcoz it doesnt match up it Banglore counterpart.
As a family outing, we decided to explore this new restaurant for it carries the famous MTR tag. But it was just a waste of time.
The supervisor is in his own world. All that one could make out was total chaos and confusion amongst the waiters. I really dont know what was in their mind.
The menu card shows very much innovative dishes like Funda VADA. But the waiter could not explain to us how the dish would be different from ordinary VADA. He gave such a BLANK DEAD PAN expression that we were in jitters.
MY in-laws who had accompanied us, were very much disgusted. Again they believe that the food must be served within 5 minutes, typical Madrasi outlook. This eatry is completely opposite to traditional mindset of Madrasi culture. (Ofcourse, being a Mumbaite, I have always as felt fish out water in chennai).
The biggest shock was the Chat items were not prepared by them . Instead they used to get it from a ROAD SIDE CORNER SHOP CALLED CHATS-N-SPICE. If we had known it, we might as well eaten there. This is extremely ridiculous as I dont think any known famous restaurant can afford to this kind of stupid thing.
There is no gurantee of the chat items being hygenic as its brought from road side corner. How come people have not protested????
I wish they really do something about it. The service is really poor and the waiters create mess by serving wrong dishes. I was completely disgusted by their callous attitude when they served me pav-bhaji instead of dahi samosa chaat.
The waiting is enormous. If this is what they want, I wish they put some books to read and also have childrens play area.
All that is displayed in shelfs is the range of condiments, MTR ready to eat packs and pickles.
Any time I would prefer to snack around any Udupi restaurant or else coffee shops. They really know to reach ur heart and stomach !!!!!!
MTR must really pull up its socks to attract customers and employ proper chefs or else they will always be SARVANNAs (another popular chain of restaurants in chennai) loyalists.
