Nokia’s 7210 isn’t something to get all hyped up about. I must say that the 7210 has come a long way in terms of all the major features that it has to offer. But on the other hand, there are those fundamental flaws that do not seem to bother the manufacturer even when the product has reached mass market.
The question of reliability comes back into the overall equation of what makes a good phone. Given the availability of more than one 7210 handset, I was able to gauge the differences in quality and - at the same time - confirm that some of the basic things, such as the ability to adjust speaker volume and powering off/on the phone with ease, doesn’t seem to have been addressed with great thought.
At the end of the day, I guess what really matter is how strongly you feel towards the company and its products.
The Nokia 7210 may be the first mass-market colour handset with polyphonic ringtones and MMS capabilities - but it won’t be the last.
Plus points:
Tri-band GSM phone (GSM 900/1800/1900 MHz)
4096-colour LCD screen
Radical keypad design - with 4-way navigational key
Java (J2ME) application support
Polyphonic ringing and message tones support (SP-MIDI)
Handsfree speakerphone feature - for both phone calls and radio
Text and multimedia messaging capabilities
Radio
Negetive points(atleast I found so):
Cannot use custom ringtones for caller groups and message tones
Inconsistencies in build quality
Radio feature needs headset plugged in even whilst using speakerphone
Volume and power buttons quite hard to press
Xpress-on back cover not as easy to remove as previous models
