Its a good player for playing various music file types. U can’t play video files. When installed, it supports some major audio file types. The Playlist & equalizer features are good. The skins & visualizations are good too.
To allow it to support some other audio files & player functions, u need to search & download the required codecs & plug-ins. U can also enhance most of its features with the help of updated plug-ins. Some extra features available with the help of plug-ins are... audio cd ripping & burning, extra equalizer effects, sound presentation, radio with more present channels, enhanced visualization support & a few others.
As far as I know, we can’t play video files with this player. U need to install the codecs & plug-ins correctly/properly, so that they may function correctly. Sometimes, searching for plug-ins is a waste of time as u may not get some plug-in/s that u require.
My review is based upon the older versions of WinAmp. The latest version may have some enhancements. I dont use this player anymore coz I prefer using UltrPlayer & RealOne, so I have no info about the latest version.
If u need to install some required codecs, u can download them through the WinAmp site or search for some other websites. U can download an ALL-IN-ONE Codec pack known as ’Nemo Codec Pack’ through Kazaa, Morpeus, BearShare, iMesh or any other p2p file sharing software.
Nemo Codec Pack has got all the codecs u will ever need & can think of. So after having Nemo, u dont need to go looking for different codecs aas u have them all together in one Pack.
