I am back into the review writing and sharing my experience after a long time. This is not very recent experience but about 1-1.5 yrs back I visited Bangalore on a business trip.
My agent told me about few options at the M.G road in Bangalore, Taj, Oberoi & Park Plaza were among them. Like always I wanted to get a room at the Taj as I would have earned my points but when I was told the price of all 3 I decided to book Park Plaza.
While Taj offered room + breakfast at INR 12, 000 and Oberoi offered at around the same rate, PP offered at 8, 500 this mean that f you stay for 3 nights, 4 is free. In addition to this the hotel also provides free pick and drop to the airport without any additional cost.
The hotel is just behind Hotel Taj. At the first glance you will be deeply disappointed, in no way it gives the impression of a 5 star hotel, very small building, and lobby is also not very impressive. The staff also prefers to speak in Kannada, except for lady named Sofia (If I remember correctly) mostly the staff would speak in Kannada...
But this is where the hassle that you will face ends. As soon as you enter the lobby with the stroller, bell boy will come running to assist you and help you with your luggage. The check-in formalities doesnt take much time. The good part is that unlike many star hotels in India, this one gives preferential treatment to Indian customers and not foreigner.
The receptionist was polite and while doing the check-in formalities she would also enquire if you have been to Blore earlier. Since it was my first trip, she suggested me about few place to check-out in Blore, handed over a map and suggested few shops to buy Mysore Crepe Silk sarees and sandal wood products (trust me they were very useful as my wife was very happy to receive a saree I think for the first time from any of my business trips)
The room was very well kept, spacious and had a very comfortable soft bed. Downside of the room, view from the window was of the backside of Taj.....Wooden flooring, plasma TV and business table, internet connection and Biotech toiletries with 7 towels. The cable connection was good but like many other places, most of the channels were in the local language.
The hotel also had decent room service with a good selection of Indian, oriental and continental food. The only downside of the place was that it had only 1 restaurant, but you will not mind as you have very good option in nr by walking distance which I would recommend.
The other good side is that the hotel is a partner of Jet Airways, so if you are JP member then you may also receive additional points and discounts, received 500 additional JP miles
