Philips W3500 is a low-end smart phone. You can get is under 5000/- rs easily and shop-keeper might even give free screen guard and memory card if you insist. At that price point I did not expect much from the phone anyways. Let me cover important aspects of this phone:
Brand name: Philips as a brand is one of the oldest and most reputed electronics brands but it entered into the mobile segment too late. It is already crowded with major brands who have covered most of the saturated markets. But, you nobody will expect you to have a Philips phone, they will just assume its some Chinese phone, so no brand recall or boast factor with Philips W3500.
Design: Design wise it is a good phone. Smooth edges and black body gives it s classy look. They have not experimented with I and stuck to the formula of candy bar smart phones. Just a black slab with screen on front and buttons on sides.
Screen: it has a big 5 inch screen which looks beautiful when it is on standby but looses its sheen when you wake it up. At a low 480x854 resolution, it just does not do justice to the display. It boasts of a 5 point touch screen but the touch itself isnt comfortably responsive.
Camera: It has a 5 MP primary camera but captured images are nothing to talk about. I have seen older feature phones take better pictures.
Battery: It is again nothing to talk about, dies within a few hours of continuous usage.
RAM: It has just 1 GB of RAM which is just not enough for all modern apps so of-course it lags like hell when you try to play any game.
Weight: The phone feels a bit heavy, I mean its size is reasonable but it feels too dense and the weight it alot for that size.
Another problem is that you do not gets its accessories easily, you will have to search alot before you come cress a back cover or case or a screen guard for it.
Verdict: Good brand but below average phone and you van get much better phones if you spend just 1 thousand rupees more!
