Robert De Niro is considered god by many ... well if you doubt it as to why he has this status .... this movie is definitely worth a watch .... as mentioned in other reviews ... this is a biographical movie about a good boxer named Jake Lamotta ... just for a moment of trivia ... did you know that this was one of the earliest movies of Robert De niro ?? His first film which was Godfather II ... made people notice him, the second which I think was raging bull made him god ... and if I am not wrong his third movie was the taxidriver .... which made his stand more clear than ever...
As for this movie I watched it a long time ago... it has a good star cast, who have all acted their parts very well ... Now I dont remember the story in detail, but I still have some memories of the film which I would like to share with you... At first instant you wont recognize robert De niro.... he has really put in an effort which you can very well see ... he trained for boxing ... he lost weight ... and then put it back again .. only because the movie warranted it.
He plays the role of this brilliant but very immature boxer. He is very impulsive and very violent ... Well if you are a die hard fan of voilence, you wont be dissapointed by this movie. I remember the scene in which Jake Lamotta gets in a brawl in the restaurant with this other character .... I swear I heard couple of my friends make faces as if they are really seeing some one beaten up.
This character of the boxer he plays... is very simple at heart ... he has talent, loads of it... and he loves this girl ... but he is a fighter .. he just cant comprehend what the girl wants.... It is shown that he puts all his money that he earned into a restaurant, Now this guy does not care for what others think... he has a weakness for women ... and this with disrespect for authority ultimately leads to his downfall ... He is charged under the offence of having physical relationship with a minor. He is obviously framed .. but he has been framed by the DA himself .... for some petty incident in the movie. In this movie ... Robert De Niro potrays the rise and fall of Jakes carreer with panache .. which only he is capable of ... he definitely deserves some applause this guy ... all in all .... it is a wonderful movie, a martin scorcesse gem this one... should you watch it ?? ... Tell me one reason as to why not?
