Hi,
We were in Bangalore for a week, just came back to Bombay today. Have to tell you abour my birthday dinner at Ramanas on Cunningham Road. We ate in several places in Bangalore but the food was very oily n spicy nothing close to our taste and standards. Then in the evening on 21st got a reference from my foodie brother in law for this place. We invited everyone - total 14 persons for dinner crossing our fingers.
When me and my husband walked in we liked the place for its simplicity yet stylish setting. Then I went through the menu card. Read the concept behind this restaurant and fell in love. We are all vegatarians by choice and this place was just perfect for us. We chose to sit on the machan style floor on top. the wooden stairs, chair all were lovely. The stewards were very hospitable and warm. they close at 10.30pm but we were chatting away until 11pm, no one frowned even once. The food was awesome all the elders loved the soups, starters, various rice dishes. The mixed veg with dry fruits n pineapple is a yummy speciality. We got more than our expectations. We had eaten in Ebony on 13th floor as well as Rim Naam at the Oberois. The Ebony was super spicy abd Oberoi absolutely tasteless food.
Ramanas will be our fav haunt whenever we visit Bangalore. You can also buy literature about Maharshi Ramana and his teachings. I bought the whole set for myself as a birthday present to myself. It was a beautiful evening in a new city for us and we loved it. Must visit with your family, friends and empty tummies.
