Quick Bite and sweet nothings

Here comes another hot and happening foodie joint from the stable of China Gate Hotels ( Krishna Tamang ) Located in the same premises as the highly successful ’China Gate’ and the ’Caravan Serai’ and the ’Golden Orchid’.. this one was earlier the ’DUSK’ lounge which has now made way for the ’Bread Box’ or the ’Red Box’...Why two names for one same joint .. Beats me !

I have never minced words when it comes to foodie reviews (although I do mince the food thoroughly) What do they serve .. Conti food .. or thats what they would like to call it.

Ask me, they serve mostly ’Bread’ items like Croissants and burgers and pizzas and pastries and quichhes and Pies and coffee and mocktails and cocktails and beer and more like pastas and slurrrpy yummmy ’conti’ food !

They serve all the necessities for a conversation over coffee with your ’beau’ or a ’tete-a-tete’ with your fiance or murmur sweet nothings to your date or to just wind up a deal with your prospectives.

The crystal balls all strung up at the entrance lend a glassy and bauble look to the exterior. The Neon Red Board makes it shine out like a Beacon on Waterfield Road imploring you to stop and explore. They have used a wire mesh to lend a metal box look to the fencing boundary.

Waiters dressed in finery and looking more chinese then Continental..though I think they are more Nepalese and Tibetan then Chinese .. couldn’t ever make out anyways. The staff come and hover as soon as you are in and try to make you feel comfortable. A bit more unobtrusive would be more to my liking.

The goodies on display at the ’Baine Marie’ counter look as if they need to be replenished. Mostly sparse and not too well endowed but priced quite easy on your pocket. This is the kind of place for trendy crowds and more on the lines of a ’Barista’ or a ’Cafe Coffee Day’ although it doesn’t seem to match them for their buzz and bite.

Will take time to perk up and become more livelier and chirpy. Hop in for a bite and leave me a line or two on your way. Bottoms Up ! Regards Raja
