HI Friends, I am an ex- Motorola and then BPL Mobile (yes they do make very attractive hand sets) user. This is first time Samsung experience for me. Previously I was using BPL’s Elegant 378 color screen phone. Then I wanted to buy a set with good battery backup, flashlight, good memory etc. etc. etc. so at the first my choice was Nokia 1108 or 1100. But then I come to know about this ’Sleek Beauty’
from Samsung, I analyzed it and finally purchased it after a long long R & D on available sets. Here are some features:
Looks: Greatttttt, in 3000 Rs. you can’t expect it ( I thought) when purchased.
Backlight & Display: This is a problem point. First of all the actual size of screen is very less. It is a 3 + 2 Lines LCD. Second problem is the dull yellow light. It’s very dull and gives a gloomy look. Apart from it font used are bigger then normal size so it eats all the space and seems odd when you read any SMS.
Keypad: Keypad is good and I am comfortable with this but many of my Nokia user friends are complaining that it’s not that much sophisticated like NOKIA 1100 or 1108 keypad.
Signal Reception: Signal reception is ok but sometimes it suddenly falls to zero don’t know why, anyway signal reception wise it’s ok.
Ringtone & Other Features: It comes with many Hindi movie ringtone like Dil Chahta hai, Chali Chali......etc. etc. etc. thats OK but now I am trying to coneect USB cable into it as I finish it I will tell you whether it supports mmf file upload or not. Apart from it it’s GPRS enabled, but as this feature is not available to me (IDEA, Bhopal, MP) so I can’t comment about it.
Sound Reception: Again it’s a problem point. Sound is quit loud but quality is very poor. I am not satisfied with it.
Memory, Address Book, Games: These are just toooooooo Good. In this mobile you get 1000 Address Book Memory. 200 SMS memory + 80 SMS CB Memory. Apart from it 270KB memory is available for Sound and Picture, it’s superb. There are two games and these are OK as I have not played it more that 3 times.
Battery Backup: Quite good. I use my mobile for both incoming and outgoing and still able to use for 3 days without charging.
PC Connectivity: Hi Friends, Than you for overwhelming response to my review. Anyway after a long wait and huge public demand here I am adding this section for PC connectivity of SGH N 700. I tried very hard to find the correct DATA Cable and finally after experimenting on numerous no. of cables I traced one. This cable is used with Samsung D 600 and with few more models whose description and model no. I will upload shortly. Anyway PC connectivity is just VERRY FINE. As the cable is connected and the software EasyGPRS (download it from https://samsungmobiles.com) is run (After proper installation) it detects the modem. Be accurate for baud rate it’s 57600 (I think). Once it’s connected properly then you can IMPORT/EXPORT your address book, melodies, pictures (?????) and you may use it’s GPRS for your Laptop or Desktop. This phone supports true tones and so if you can ENCODE/DECODE mmf files you may upload it your phone. Although 200 KB is not very much but still it’s sufficient for many decent and respectable ringtones. If I am to rate it on a scale of five then I would give it a 4 (close to the highest). You are welcome for more quaries, but due to shortage of time I would answer after 1-2 days. This mobile is Recommended to: For people believe in ’Simple Living and Cost Effective Thinking’ (just kidding)!!. Those who are looking for Sober look, High memory, flashlight, Polyhonic, Economic, Good Battery Backup MOBILE.
