I dont know how to write a movie review, so please dont rate this. I just want to share some of my thoughts with you guys, that’s it.
I have watched Snatch 23 times and I have the DVD with me. I like Snatch because of the great dialogues and the incomprehensible accent of the Mickey, a gypsy boxer(played by Brad Pitt).
The names of the characters are great,
Boris the bullet dodger - Why is he is called that, cos he can dodge bullets. He is a Russian by the way played by Rade Sherbedgia.
Frankie four fingers - Whose weakness is is gambling and lands up in trouble because of that. He got his name after someone chopped off one of his finger cos he didn’t pay his debt. Played by Benicio Del Toro
Bullet Tooth Tony - Whose survived ’seven’ bullets (one on his tooth) and survived to tell his tale. (Vinnie jones)
The narrator of the story is Turkish(jason statham) and his business partner is Tommy(i dont know his name), who has a fascination for guns. When Turkish sees the gun Tommy is carrying, he asks him
’What’s the gun for Tommy, ’
Tommy says:, ’for protection’
Turkish : ’for what, protection from ze zermans???’
You can watch the movie just for the wonderful characters and the dialogues, which are extremely funny. The plot is also good.
Another character is ’brick top’ according to whom the best method to dispose a human body is by cutting it to seven pieces and feeding it to pigs. He also has an equation in place, x no of pigs can devour a full adult human body (bones and all) in less then 3 minutes!!!!
Avi is a guy in USA to whom Frankie has to deliver a diamond. Avi is sitting with his associates and he comes to know that the diamond is in London. He tells his associates that the diamond is in London. The associates exclaim ’’London’ Avi says
’’Yes fish n chips, cup of tea, bad food, worse weather, Mary F@#$#$G Poppins, London’’
The most cute character in the movie is a dog which swallows a diamond , and when sol, vinnie (pawn shop owners) and Tyron (a black ’getway’ driver’ who can’t get away from anything cos he is extremely fat) are cornered by Avi(Who came from USA) vinnie says that the dog swallowed a precious stone,
Avi says - ’’Look inside the dog’’
vinnie says ’’what you mean by look inside the dog’’,
Avi says I mean look ’inside’ the bloody dog!!!
Avi goes back to USA empty handed and at the immigration the officer asks him,
’’anything to declare’’
avi says ’’never go to England’’
I feel that after pulp fiction, Snatch is the first movie which blends violence and comedy in such a style. Guy Ritchie has done a better job here then “Lock Stock and Two smoking barrels”.
Do watch the movie, you will never get tired of it, its funny, has got memorable characters and a great plot.
