Swatch is a very good brand for watches. It produces a wide variety of watches twice a year (winter and summer collection), and theres a Swatch for everyone!
Swatch watches have a basic design. Most of the watches have the basics only; seconds, minutes and hours. If you want a fancy one, you can have the date as well, or if you want to show off, you can have a timer and more snazzy options. A swatch is not recognized by its looks but by its sound. A swatch is loud, and if you dont like loud watches then go for a digital watch. The ticking seconds can be heard from quite far in a silent room. Thats the trademark point of swatches. Dont worry, youll get used to hearing the seconds tick by, especially when youre bored and want the time to fly by.
Swatches are very sporty watches. All are resistant up to 50m under water. So you dont have to worry about going to the beach or taking a bath with your watch on. Theyre not bulky either, so you can play sports with them without noticing that you have a watch around your wrist.
The Swatch parts are compatible. Which means that if your bracelet brakes, smells bad (due to sports), out of fashion or if you dont like the design anymore, you can just go into any Swatch shop and buy a new bracelet. If you dont like the main bit, you cant just swap it with another main bit of another watch, you have to buy a new watch altogether. But when you buy a new Swatch, dont think that you have to buy the matching bracelet! You can choose any main bit and match it with the bracelet that you want! Personalize your watch to make sure that no one else has got the exact same one!
The bad thing about Swatch, is that they are water resistant, but water does damage them, especially sea water. So youll find that your bracelet will fall off or brake after a year or two and when you go to the shop hell tell you "Sorry, we cant repair it, youll have to buy a new one altogether". And hes not trying to rip you off, there is no way that you can repare the bracelet once it detaches from the main bit. So you have to buy a new watch, and the trouble of going through all the designs and choosing a watch and bracelet comes back.
I think that the concept of Swatch, where you choose a design, then the bracelet seperately is a very good idea, but not yet explored by every Swatch buyer. They applied the same concept to cars with the Smart and I am sure that this car will grow to be popular in the next 20 years.
